About this album

  • Updated: 07/05/2008

I got a ukulele on april 1st and decided that april would be record 1 uke song per day month and thats what I did. There are 10 songs missing because there were audio problems in them that I couldn't fix but this is basically about me learning the ukulele by trial and error after studying tunings, chords and playing styles for a while before getting one.

So, this isn't like a normal album album, because some of the songs would've either been weeded out or, if I felt they were necessary, attempted to be recorded until I thought it was album worthy but this was more of a one take mostly improv type thing. I pretty much just played around and sung until a song seemed to exist and then hit record and tried to make it work.

And thats pretty much all I experimented with on this, me and a uke, no effects... though there is the beginning of "Pop This Big Bubble" and all I can say is that a man (at least this one) can only go so long without adding a little something extra, until he can't help himself, even if it goes against the whole concept of what was being done

Clicking through the tracks on this "album" is like driving by a bloody car wreck- you can't take your eyes (ears) away from the carnage. It is probably the funniest set of recordings I've heard since I was drunk in college. Any of the tracks (because they all sound amazingly similar) would be great to put in at a party just to see things come to a screaching halt as everyones jaws dropped and said, "are you serious?". Unfortunately, he is serious. So, I wish him well and keep on practicing. I must also add that the album cover is very nice and all of the titles are very creative. Good job. You have more guts than me.
