Very nice and skillful play on different types of kalimbas, mbiras and additional ethnic instruments. Unfortunately vocals ruin otherwise perfect experience.

About this album
Ein persönliches Album - die Frucht einer jahrelangen Liebesbeziehung zu diesem afrikanischen Instrument. Aufgenommen solo, mit Playback, und mit verschiedenen Freunden. Irgendwo zwischen Weltmusik und Meditation.
Ich danke Frank Schiweck, der die Aufnahmetechnik übernommen hat: ohne sein großzügiges Angebot gäbe es diese CD nicht. Das Mastering besorgte Henning Verlage, Greven.
"Mongu Dreams" wurde 1995 Live in Wiesbaden aufgenommen, mit Eberhard Emmel am Sax, Elka Aurora (Stimme), Timothy Mgala, Wolfgang Holthues, Michael Stroh und Tina Lustig (Percussion)
"Birthday" ist eine Demoaufnahme mit dem Trio "Manica" (1997): Peter Faßbender (Flöte), Njankou Niasse (Djembé und Gesang), und Reinald (Kalimba)
"Präludium" ist die älteste Aufnahme: 1992 in Sambia, mit Reinald (keyboard) und Timothy Mgala (trad. drums)

I would like to compliment the vocals on the album as much as the Kalimba playing. Rather than "ruining" the experience, I feel the vocals augmented the authentically human experience. Some people may like the new-agey sound of kalimba/mbira alone, but it never developed that way. A lot of the themes are very catchy and cannot help but be hummed days after hearing the album. I feel this contribution is worth at least the price of a 2CD set and the fact that it is Freely shared makes it priceless. Thank you so much for uploading. The only thing lacking is information regarding the tuning, type and origin of each kalimba. Cheers!

Tut mir leid, ich kann die Begeisterung für das Instrument nicht teilen. Ist aber völlig subjektiv. Mir geht das bereits nach kurzer Zeit voll auf die Nerven.

man muss sich auf diese art der musik einlassen, es ist für westliche verhältnisse recht ungewöhnlich, erinnert an afrikanische landschaften....stimmungen...durchaus interessant zu beobachten...was es mit einem macht...eine reise...ja eine mediationsreise zu einem loslassen...))) alles gute und viel erfolg wünsche ich von herzen ...danke für das teilen.... ^^
