Die E.P. „For us, the drifters. For them, the Bench.” der Band morning boy wurde im Sommer des Jahres 2007 aufgenommen, nach dem sich vier junge Menschen zusammengefunden hatten, die der Popmusik als Bedeutungsträger der eigenen Biographie längst erlegen waren. Die Stilmittel sind vielfältig, der Weg gewählt: Melodie und Klarheit. „For us, the drifters. For them, the Bench.” will sich nicht festlegen, will sich entfalten lassen. Es will den Soundtrack des Lebens der Band morning boy entwerfen.

wahnsinnig schöne songs.
tolle stimme, tolle melodien, sehr eingängig. haben mir bereits beim ersten mal hören gefalln!
diese klarheit in der stimme und der hall der gitarren im hintergrund, dazu noch die leicht melancholischen texte laden ein zum träumen...
unbedingt anhören!!!

On imagine les Morning boy étudiants au tee-shirt large et converses pourries, nonchalants et sympathiques, toujours en bande, distillant des blagues qu'ils sont les seuls à comprendre. Et c'est peut-être là qu'il faut trouver ce qui alimente ce bel album, d'une sincérité désarmante, rappelant les californiens de Pavement en grande forme. C'est sûr, on sent chez Morning boy l'influence de leur ainés, mais au fil des titres, la bande de potes se transforme vite en artistes doués. Des mélodies aussi ciselées qu'entêtantes, un son homogène et compact, ces garçons sont prometteurs. Reste à confirmer tout ça en live, mais au vu de leurs performances youtubesques, on ne se fait pas de souci pour eux. Bonne route à vous, et gardez vos polos, les filles adorent ça...

Genau so klingt diese Musik. Leicht wehmütig, dennoch voller Hoffnung und Zuversicht auf das, was wohl noch kommen mag. Der Soundtrack eures Lebens... er gefällt mir wirklich sehr, liegt genau auf meiner Wellenlänge. Ein toller Sänger, perfekt gespielte Instrumente, verträumte Melodien und eine erstklassige Aufnahmequalität. Warum hört man euch nicht im Radio??? Ihr erinnert mich ein wenig an Eskobar, die habe ich früher geliebt! Hoffentlich kommt mal wieder was neues von euch... Jedenfalls volle Punktzahl von mir!

This album surprised me A LOT!!! And I mean in the most positive way imaginable! :D
I think it's a very nice mellow, yet positivistic, mix of many rock subgenres (from pop punk to alternative rock with elements of mild math or noise rock.).
For some reason "Maryland" reminds me a lot about Dinosaur Jr., while "Whatever" reminds me of a more pop-ish Joan of Arc. Overall the album I'm as awestruck and get pretty much the same feeling as I do listening We Followed Tigers or the two above mentioned bands.
As far as I'm concerned, I think Morning Boy can compete with the "big guys" from the commercial labels any day, any time! I can barely wait for more!! XD
P.S. Is there some female vocals I hear in some tracks? If so, mind sharing who the singer is?
Angenehm leichter Pop-Rock auf einem guten Niveau, allerdings doch auch nicht ganz radiotauglich, da fehlen noch ein paar "Ohrwurmmelodien", aber das muss ja nun wirklich nicht nachteilig sein bei dem was heute sonst so teils im Radio läuft..!
