Porpoise - Ursine Major


Ursine Major is the third release by the Midland based band, Porpoise. The Ep was again recorded by the band themselves in their own studio set up; The Pilot Lounge with their good friend Timothy Parkes over summer 2008. The EP was mastered by Dave Mitson (Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Michael Jackson) and features 4 songs which have be honed over the past year during their energetic live shows. Ursine Majors topics include racists, Polish World War II bear soldiers, Werewolfs and Cat fighting. Porpoise are seeing out the year with a few live shows and looking forward to what 2009 has to offer!

Un album réjouissant, du bon pop-rock anglais, retour aux sources. La voix est parfois approximative mais cela rajoute à l'émotion. La rythmique est bien en place. Ce qui est intéressant c'est cette forte implication de tout le groupe dans le jeu. Ils nous entrainent avec eux. Un bon moment Merci pour le partage

Notka robi większe wrażenie niż muzyka, ale tym razem nie jest żle. Poprzednie płyty były słabe, tej można z przyjemnością posłuchać.

pretty good album, it is clear to see that you guys are improving! Big cat tag team takedown: its a pretty cool song, i could imagine it being a lot better live. cool chanting bit at the end. California racist: Stange title? xD but a pretty good song Silver Bullet: this is cool song, with a rly catchy riff. soldier bear:This is my fave song, very catchy and fun. You are developing a very unique sound, keep it up :) also, cool album artwork!!

This is my favorite album from Porpoise yet. It has all the fun and energy of earlier albums, with more polish (both in arrangements and production) and a broader emotional range. "Big Cat Tag Team Take Down" is a hard-driving crowd pleaser with a nice guitar solo. California Racist, Silver Bullet and Soldier Bear all bring out a softer, more melodic side of the band that hasn't been so apparent in the past. These songs also show the band's ability to maintain their tongue-in-cheek playfulness while taking on more serious topics. Thanks Poise!
