About this album

  • Updated: 16/10/2008

This album is called Blueprints because, to be perfectly frank, it is all made up of MIDI sounds rather than played by real instruments.  Though it inevitably will sound somewhat mechanical, it is my hope that the listenener will hear beyond those limitations and grasp what my real intentions were.

Piano Quintet: i) Andante tempestoso; ii) Tema con variazioni; iii) Scherzo e trio; iv) Presto agitato.

Divertimento for Strings: i) Allegretto con moto; ii) Andante misterioso; iii) Presto furioso.

Its called blueprint because its still use a standard MIDI voice?? But melody composition is VERY VERY PROFESSIONAL!! Its a music of very talented composer. Very advanced melody!! I never could make melody like this! Its still great although sounding with very MIDI voice, i couldn't imagine how great it will be if used great sound or real orchestra!! Piano voice on first song is very romantic!! Violin voice is piano best friend on making a great ballad! Second song is very nice too, i could imagine a dance party with beautiful princess. But in the middle its going like sad, hmmm... cinderella? Very nice music!

VERY ORIGINAL

Very original in the sense that the composer ventured outside the traditional structure for delicious and unexpected cadenza and chords. They give a liveliness and playfulness to his compositions. The Scherzo from Piano Quintet is tremendously dancing. With accents of English music of the 18th. The Divertimento is a more modern construction. The music reflects an atmosphere of tension and anxiety, but is interrupted at times by epic flights in the 1st movement. In the Andante, we hear musical chords very original and glissando I particularly appreciate. The last movement accentuates the atmosphere of suspense in the frantic work of the strings. There are passages that make me think of the music of Bernard Herrmann, the composer of Hitchcock. Bravo to these two highly original compositions masterfully constructed. Thanks for sharing your talent. Salut Martin.

As I have told one of the artists at Jamendo recently, it doesn't matter if you create your music with a kazoo in the shower or with a 290 piece orchestra - If your heart is into the art and you give 'purpose' to your creation - it will shine with a piece of your heart and spirit. But, all of these marvelous creations on Jamendo, made with electronics, do have a certain perfection to them which leaves the listener a little disconnected with the artist. It is the odd bumps, and bruises, and gasp!, even the little mistakes that makes the best connection between the artist and the audience. But having said that, it is freeing to the musician to have such a broad range of instruments to add to their palette. For the audience that is a plus, because we have a broader range of art to pick from and enjoy. It is the same with writing or painting, we have the electronic medium now, and that gives us all the chance to publish our art. The first track on this album "Piano Quintet" was very enjoyable and professional sounding. I thought the voices of the piano and the violin were in harmony and the melody kept its integrity throughout the movements. Very lovely and it would be quality music to appear live. The second track, "Divertimento for Strings" was quite dramatic and suspenseful. I thought it could make a really nice film track. It definitely tells a story. Overall this album is thoughtfully composed and very enjoyable. I plan on playing it to my students.

Que tu as des histoire à dire... Tu invente ta musique comme tu invente une histoire. C'est beau et imaginatif... tu ne respire pas... Tu dis et dit sans ralentir sans laisser une place pour autre chose... Tu as du talent. Perduss

It's very nicely that people who write classical music still occurs :) (I also reckon myself among them and plan to publish classical album here). This album (and your others) contains very interesting ideas, melodic development and dramatics are seen. But nevertheless some elegancy(refinement) might be added; strings for ex. might be splitted into few separate instruments - contrabass section, cellos, solo violins with different settings(and characters). Also, standart midi sounding - hmm.. maybe some VSTi to try or more qualitative sound fonts at least.. [I am not sure that i write absolutely correctly in english, so excuse me :)] Thanks for your review on mine!

There are really of great compositions in this album, for my laziness I had not heard, without detracting from the other work of Martin, this work is less harsh and more 'immediate, more' usable in its grace and sweetness, a great harmonization work perfectly complete this album great!
