About this album

  • Updated: 01/12/2008

Healing, Again is a musical expression of various styles of electric-violin blended with studio-produced background tracks.  The album showcases the electric-violin performance and composition of Kevan Paul, and includes various styles of playing including jazz, rock, fusion, new age, neo-classical, cinematic-rock, and techno.
The album is artistically developed around the theme of "Healing",  and was developed directly in response to a request by an artist to provide violin music that would be inspirational during  oil-painting, and during self-reflection for healing the mind and soul after a long period of self-doubt, physical pain, and depression. '

The song "Tour de France" was written as a reflection of how riding a bicycle can be a healing activity, and how those who participate in the race must aspire to be in the best possible physical shape. The song "Meltdown" was written in direct response to the world-wide financial crisis in recent months during 2008, and is also symbolic to the emotional and physical meltdowns that can occur in our lives before a healing period can begin. The other songs have similar inspirational roots, so feel free to use your imagination accordingly.

Kevan Paul has performed and recorded with folk music groups in the past decade with the acoustic violin, but now is attempting to showcase a more personal and technical dimension of his performance using an  "electric-violin" and a variety of digital music recording techniques.  Kevan is seeking other musicians who may be interested in colloboration or  performing in an  "electric-string-quartet", in order to extend the possibilities of this music further.

The spaces in between us, for you and I to grow. (Rush, I think?) Nice concept, realism in musical form and a fine form it is too. Nicely fused, eclectic founding separate but bound with that sometimes elusive cohesion. Cool stringwork and excellent blending. Meltdown is quite an adventurous soundscape in particular, but the whole work has a sense of melding together as a holistic mix. Wheels within wheels and I'm back to Permanent Waves. Thanks for the cyclical music.

I can not be objective with these sounds: a great bass and a fantastic violin. This is a "damnned" jazzy album open to other infinite suggestions. The harmonious violin plays with modal style creating melodies over melodies. Beautiful!

A lot of good work done! Really experimental and unique! Fusion of many genres! Great violin performance! Maybe it would sound even better with less spacing! Thank you for sharing!
