A real ambient, cinematic, electronic pre apocalyptic musical album this is. Feel the emotions, flood all around, as you take in all in this wonderful, visual, heart stirring, stimulating, beautiful, heartwarming, emotional musical album.

Driftwood, like so many peoples lives in this incessant turmoil of life, calmly captured in magical, musical form. The Black Swan beautifully, darkly majestic in its ambience. Stern like a swan too, but just in the odd place. Overall, a soulful rendition of a rare animal. Beauty in both forms. The title track, Solastalgia, is quite a momentous track, big without being big and personalised with more guitar blues, in a Pink Floyd way, or Mike Oldfield perhaps. Choice is a nice bold vocal track, nicely balanced and intoned. Makes me think of Dead Can Dance, good quality stuff. Weightless Path was just that. Smouldering Lights a lovely cascade of musical luminescence, lovely upper layers and nice colours. Nice reverberations begin Seven Days In May and it's slowly dawning on me, like an epiphany. In places, there is a clever fusion of sounds that stretch over decades, like looking back at the sun, and bringing it back into the here and now. Almost archetypal synaptical configurations abound. The track is melodious and has a gorgeous sense of rhythm, and percussive expression. The Hot Room is very atmospheric and intensely ambient, which may sound curious, but that's how it sounds, it resonates deeply into the layers of the aether and puts the fate of all creation at the behest of someone pushing a red button. It not only has depth, but height and width. But, more than anything it has power, power is the key. Sheltering Sky is a musical oxymoron. Think about how much the sky shelters you. Post-apocalyptically speaking there is no duck-and-cover. Ultimately, we are left with a Void. And, a damned good album. Thanks Jukeen.
