A thoroughly engaging soundtrack to the second in a life of lifetimes. Whether it be as a point of fixation, an anchorage. A benchmark from which to measure the experience of listening to this sound manipulation. Or, as a laconic poet patronising some madame of the household. Personally, I like the thought of one and believe it is the other. I will let you figure it out for yourselves. However, this is a persistently and strongly spirited piece of music that is proof positive of Caustic Reverie's steadfast skill at shaping sound and noise artfully. Nice work.

I shall start at the beginning by saying I was born in the heart of the UK in the 1950's in a place called Lichfield. A quiet, quaint and traditional place as befits a true cathedral city. For 364 days each year it fully lived up to that definition, day 365 was a very different situation altogether however. That day was, at the time, called Whit Monday; a bank holiday in latter May. That day the carnival came to town (or should that be city). The whole place became bedecked with activities, carnival floats, processions, bands, fun fairs, markets, dog shows, sporting events etc etc. Extra public transport was laid on and the place became alive and buzzin'. For a young child like me it was the 3rd most important day of my year (after my birthday and Christmas). As much candy floss, ice cream and toffee apples as I could stuff into my tum. Life was good and of course the sun always shone! Year after year, pure joy and happiness. This event still exists and goes on but now without me as it always rains that day. The event is known as the "Bower". Now to the music and this release called "Bower". It starts off well, all CR releases do, with a short musical motif leading into another and then another and another and so on... Very promising start. Next up comes the first longer drone and here I started to hit problems. The music became darker and it was now I was expecting the visuals to start appearing in my mind. The music disappeared to my mind; I could hear it but not see it. My mind just kept replaying my childhood Bower memories and ignored the music totally. I repeated the playing and exactly the same happened again. The whole middle section, the main visualisation bit, was blocked completely from my brain. I suppose you can't just overwrite 50 years of memories with 50 minutes of music straight off, no matter how good that music is. The final segments of this release came through as normal, and as normal the actual ending, a pacier, volume increasing tempo came too soon. I was expecting it to continue rising and then end but no, it rose a little and then just stopped. Don't know why but endings don't appear to be this artist's strongpoint. The sections I remember are as good as ever but as there are bits I don't remember and an ending I simply don't like, this one scores a notch less than usual. I may be doing the recording an injustice and if so, my apologies. Remember Bryn, "Happiness is the Road" and you are on it! We are all forgotten sons but our memories never die.
