About this album

  • Updated: 16/01/2009

Concept:
"Servant of Entropy" is a story about a mentally ill woman and her distorted beliefs overshadowing her concept of reality. Even the simplest of matters are rendered incredibly complex and full of spiritual messages. It all slowly conquers the remains of her sanity and the real world turns into a mere curtain of symbolism. She perceives herself as possessed by a sinister angel, a minion of chaos in the grand balance of the universe. Her purpose is to cause everything around her to suffer and deteriorate until there's nothing left to spoil.

Artist's comments:
The album is a demonic fantasy themed piece of dark ambient with concentration on minimalism and vast dark atmospheres. This is the most minimalistic release of Dereleech so far in many ways. Main properties include long bassy drones, desolate ambient fields, various distorted samples and choral/vocal effects, barely audible melodies and rhythms buried under walls of noise/drone, and also occasional cleaner synth parts. The album's mood shifts through slow eerie journeys into the end's more chaotic form. The album is continuous and meant to be listened to as a whole. Most tracks, if detached from the full work, will probably sound abrupt and weird.

The first track conveys for me a manner of assertion. It is subtle, though strong. Such as it seems to be for the inescapable presence of entropy. Naturally, such a hefty natural force will encourage adherents, albeit according to our subjective anthropomorphism. The second track appears to capture the essence of the sky, as we perceive it, to be some sort of illusion. Closer inspection reveals various layers. Light gives lightness life, within the eye of the beholder. Inertia perhaps a part of the cycle of breaking down. The Ashen Angel paves an aetheric path, between spaces, to the spiritual formality of the Congress of the Faceless Ones. Again, subtle and very effective. The storyline is working out fine. Ailhorn Rite alludes to some manner of ceremony. A reasonable inclusion for this subject matter. As for Witness the Fall of This Realm, that seems very pertinent as well as integral to the tale. A being in this downward spiral, will at least envisage such a fall from grace, if not effectively bring it about. Cinderstorm, an expression of the devastation wrought upon the aforementioned realm. The purpose is realised. Finally, onto a suite of tracks concentrating on Entropy. This seems to form a developmental cycle, from Allegiance through to the finale of the Gore Fountain, which encapsulates the extent of the triumph. All of which flows wonderfully well, forming in its part a sense of the grand balance of the universe. Exceptionally good. Lends itself well as a backdrop to the imaginative faculty.

I was sitting here trying to write something, anything when I found this to keep my mood company and before I knew it I was saved! Thank you, Dereleech for a piece that is an expression of what she(the lady in the music) and I can and do go through. . .

¡¡¡Excelente!!!

They say music can make you feel a lot. It can be empathetic, understand, straight forward and pulls no punches. It can also be dark, haunt you, please you and make you feel excitement and dread. And also make you feel good and bad So many things so many feelings. I was drawn to this album. And felt the need to listen. And as I listened. I understood and experienced the needs and wants, of my own desires, fears and emotions, and the vastness of time, space and the Universe, of presents of everything and everyone on it.. Poetic, visionary and articulate soundscapes. Cosmic, deep and profound. The yin and yang of everything and anything microscopic to what ever where ever.It was gritty, raw, sincere, passionate, ethereal and majestic, drone like and ambiently pleasing. And gently but sensitively stimulates your senses and subconscious mind beyond anything I can say...
