Description:

- Quest for Theraclis -

When I begun to write it, I wanted to create something that was appropriate to a movie.
Initially the tuba and the snares played alone for much more time, and my idea was that of a modern war movie, but when I begun to introduce violins, I’ve stopped to plan and to think what I wanted to do or not to do, so the result has been something more epic and less modern.
The piece temporarily took the name of "The march", and successively "Nephilim' s March", but when I’ve understood that, the budget was too much low to conclude the symphony “Theraclis” (I had to insert it in the cd ), decided to call the piece: “Quest for Theraclis”.

- Farewell-

Perhaps I had to put "Kora" before “Faerewell” because these two pieces are connected. I have written this piece after that "Kora" has chosen another and not me.

- Kora -

Once upon a time a woman, Kora her name. I liked her, but she choose another one. When I have written this piece, I was thinking of her, but I was also watching a movie that spoke about Brunilde Iceland’s Queen. I think that the movie has influenced me, because the harp confers a medieval atmosphere.

- Trio d’archi e pianoforte -

I’ve hated the composition of this piece. I wanted to write a piece faster for a quartet, my first quartet, and I’ve been surrounded by hundred of short notes. I didn’t succeed to find spaces on the score and had to write notes that didn’t create an enormous dissonance, and I thought I would never end it, and it has been easier to write the symphony that this piece. I do not know why, perhaps because it wasn’t a good time.

- Leprechaun -

The Leprechauns are creatures of the Irish folklore, you can find information
searching on internet.
I’ve begun to write the part of the 1st violins, but than has been assigned to the Oboes. From the theme of the Oboes I’ve written the rest of the piece.
With this piece I’ve tried to express the personality of a Leprechaun, I wanted the listener to imagine it to walk between ruins and forest and I’ve tried with the cellos to give a restlessness sense. Inside this demo cd, is one of the pieces nearer to the classical composition.

- I don’t want to forget -

I wanted to create something that it was appropriate to a movie, yes, as for “Quest for Theraclis”. It’s a simple piece, I remember that I began to write it after dinner and at the
dawn of the day after, I finished it. I’ve tried to modify it many times but I was not truly satisfied. I understood that even if simple, it would have arrived however at the heart.

- Lirinen -

This piece has been written for a special friend, a sister and sometime a daughter.
The part played by the piano was written for violin, but the sound was too much celtic, thus I decided to make play the part at the piano and so I wrote the part for the second hand. However the melody played from violin continued like me so I decided that the violin would have played the same melody of the piano but only towards the end.

Thoroughly fantastic...

Nicely controlled dramatic sound, there is a focus that is relevant to a quest. Farewell, a suitably plaintive and beautiful piece of piano work. When the strings take over there is a manner of a discussion that begins to take place, which the piano gets back into with a wonderful flourish. Well balanced. The string work in Kora is just magnificent, there is something very appealing in its texture, like hugging a tree. The Trio D'Archi e Pianoforte, is a fantastic allegro. Lovely pace with quite an optimistic air to it, which is nicely held and maintained throughout the movement. It makes the heart beat faster. Such wonderful passion, with a proper ending. The next track Leprechaun, drops the tempo somewhat and opens up a new door into a world of fairy tales. Comparatively, quite andante, but with the air of the faery folk, and they can be so mischievous! So an mild element of darkness, but not overly so. I Don't Want to Forget, gets even more easy-going, and has an almost seamless flow, reminiscent of Gorecki's style, building and diffusing beautifully, with a mild 'choral' aspect, but just a hint. Lirinen, again I am confronted with the emotionality of water! It keeps popping up, maybe it is just a common point of reference and there is no more to it than coincidence. Time will tell. It all comes out in the wash, so they say. As a track, a lovely combination of instrumentation. Slightly faster in pace, but with nice diversity and progression as it, almost waltzes at places, then it falls into plaintive keywork to a swift end.
