Un formidable album de bluegrass ultra roots. Une guitare, un gus et c'est tout! Un coup de pied au cul de ceux qui ne jurent que par la qualité de l'enregistrement et pas la qualité de jeux. Johnny Hoodoo met l'ambiance (et depuis combien de temps?) et ce n'est pas "ambiant", c'est vivant ! Fraternité absolue Glandul

A very pleasant discovery here on Jamendo. My favorite song must be Shanty Blues or maybe Police Dog Blues, but they're all very well played and sung. Very roots-y, very real. Would like more music like this.

A great honky tonk, rooty, country, blues, album. With a nice fresh air taste and smell to it. And great vibrant catchy cool sweet vocals. That just roll it all off to perfection. And will give you such a bliss filled fun time. Savoring this delight album out.

A wonderful melange of country blues with chicken pickin' guitar and droolin' rockin'-chair voice.The album contains a bewitching insight into the ”cross-pollination”. of the blues and Appalachian Hillbilly (Jaws Harp and all)......Well, mama killed a chicken, thought it was a duck. On est dans le roots bien profond. La qualité est bien là!! Bravo et merci. Du bon boulot. On aimerait juste en savoir un peu plus sur l'auteur...

Country Blues mit Banjo ist wirklich selten geworden, auch wenn Stars wie Otis Taylor was zur Rettung des Instruments taten. Aus Schottland kommt passen dazu ein schön altmodisches Bluesalbum von Johnny Hoodoo. Ein wenig kommt man sich in die 30er Jahre zurückversetzt vor, wenn man "Country Blues" von Johnny Hoodoo anhört: Ein Mann, sein Banjo oder seine Gitarre und die alten Geschichten, die erzählt werden vom Unterwegssein, von den untreuen Frauen, ... Blues ganz im Stile von Blind Blake oder Reverend Gary Davis, also im klassischen Piedmont-Style der amerikanischen Ostküste wird einem geboten. Ab und zu kommen auch noch Gospelwurzeln und der harte Rockabilly zum Vorschein. Alles sehr gut - und durchaus meisterlich gespielt. Dabei kommt Johnny Hoodoo aus Schottland. Doch mittlerweile muss man ja nicht mehr generationenlanges Baumwollpflücken im Blut haben, um authentischen Country-Blues zu spielen. Ich kann dieses Album nur wärmstens empfehlen.
