Have I stumbled on a little jackpot of noise construction. The intention seems well aimed and suitably justified. Jogging channelien pour soirée ibizienne, is a bit frenetic in places, but it ends up like being at a busy firework display. Which poses a question, because I think 'sitting and the desk' and letting your imagination quietly fly by as you listen, offers a wealth of situational dreams that might otherwise be missed. For example, singing along, detracts and distracts from the original performance, if only because your attention is diverted and dispersed. I like to try and catch the detail and dream away. I quite liked the third track.
A vos marques, pret? soldez!, is immensely interesting. A fascinating construction of sound and rhythm, offering a good listening opportunity, with which to furnish the inside of my skull. Again, this interest continues through Défiler au Sri Lanka, c'est pas facile tous les jours, into a very well made conjunction of creativity. Coffret promo: string + après ski, Top sexy! makes for a challenging blend. Multi aspected, seems to be the general order for the day. Machine à coudre en Dé mineur, gets my listening juices bubbling once more. A curiously moving piece of material, stitched well but somewhat abstractly.
Collier tahitien en tulipes noires, is a dark necklace of sound beads made from the shrunken heads of rare flowers. Very nice track, almost primitive in a sense. Track nine, Robe plissée shamanique et Efferalgan intégré, is a postmodern whirling dervish of noise manipulation. Seemingly chaotic, there is a curiously skewed structure evident that lends itself well to the musicality of the track. A sense of ritualistic success brings the piece to a more peaceful end. Nous n'avons pas cet article pour les gros ni les handicapés, asserts itself quickly, as one would in such a situation. Clear and to the point. Nice distribution of dynamics. Very nice.
Le paréo amaigrissant qu'il vous faut, starts off quite laid back, though with a strong point to make. I've never tried a sarong, don't know that I could carry it off. Some very nice combinations and experimentation with seemingly disparate sounds. Ends up blending very well, I think. Never been one for mocassins either, skin fascinates me though, as much as this track captures my interest and perusal. An immensely good track, puts it right to the top for me. I have to say, looking at the other reviews, this is way much better than I expected. There seems to me to be an element of the avant garde, which I suspect originates in the deft experimentalism and lack of taking yourself to seriously as an artist.
Défilés de top models tout nus sur la plage, would lead to a conflagration of some sort, though the track starts very peacefully and elegantly. Thoughtfully posed, in a suitable manner. Robe style Louis XV et Rangers-double-coque, tendance rebelle pour l'été. Je ne sais pas si je peux comprendre le titre. Either way, another quietly tremendous piece of work. It deems to display its 'awesome' qualities so demurely, I think they would be easily overlooked. I like this album a lot, the more I listen, the more I love it.
Robe de soirée velour noir, satin et ornements en diamants stéllaires, I can picture this more easily, only that it seems more steeped in a visualisation that I can conjure up, lacking the appropriate cultural models, in my conceptual vocabulary for the former track. Having said all that, the content of the track has a truly mezmerizing quality from the outset. It could probably be expressed linguistically better en Francais, but I am attempting to communicate, the extent to which this album has totally won me over. As I listen and formulate my decision, I drift into the realm of 'outstanding', on a subconscious level.
Possibly part of it is that I don't believe that this was the intended outcome per se, but rather a by-product of applying the experiment of creating, transmitting and receiving. It succeeds, at least for me, partly because that's just what it is not trying to do. It's subjective, and I find that demeaning quality very appealing. Makes magical things happen on occasion. Anyway, to end, a fine greeting I must say, though it sort of panned out that way unfortunately, so thanks for Nos pires voeux pour l'année prochaine. Overall, I am surprisingly impressed, much better listening than I anticipated. 2009 will be fine...
