Eternal melancholy

Sensitive acoustic rock ballads with well-written lyrics and this slightly scorched, unpretentiously appealing voice that conveys pure and sincere emotion. The title, Spanish for "wretched one", adds a touch of mystery but also determines the entire album's tone and mood. The gloomy atmosphere reigns throughout all seven tracks of maldita, from the wistfully melodious Summer rain, Trying to regret, Long forgotten dreams and It doesn't matter at all to the very interesting, passionate Lizzard King and The Port and winding up to the heartbreaking Eternal sadness. Very few instruments with a most prominent guitar accompany the vocals, which sound somewhat too distant - but this does not bother me personally, as it appears to work in favour of the final result by enhancing this feeling of sadness, loneliness and regret. The style is consistent with the artist's previous albums, the Indieca and spiders snakes & butterflies demos; in the description of the latter, it is mentioned that a few of the songs were recorded directly to Mini Disc - and I don't know if it is just my own ears, but this does seem to make a difference for this kind of "minimal" arrangement. Another little pearl I stumbled upon while searching for something else, and I am really glad for the discovery.

mixing is a little bit raw, voice part is too wet, your voice is nice, bring it closer to my ears,I prefer those acoustic tracks, despite what you mention as your influence(pj.harvey, nick cave or radiohead),you really had some undiscovered potential in late 60s' 70s' phyco acid folk stuff

I thought this was a nice, mellow, acoustic guitar playing folk, rock album, the music was nice, the vocals, just need to be a bit louder. The lyrics where good.

If the Indie genre was more similar to your approach to it, I would absolutely love indie. "Lizard King" and "Long Fergotten Dreams" are my two favorites from this album. Keep rocking!

Very very nice singer/songwriter album, pure, honest, full emotion. Not being superproduced is one of its charms, Trying to Regret a classic that keeps sticking in your head. Nice nice.

J'aime.
