If you read attentively the reviews of Ivan1984, you might learn about the man.

Ivan1984 is among the greatest reviewers we have on Jamendo.

Among others, he is my friend, because his very generous and personaly relevant reviews help me understand better my music.

But as I said, reading his reviews gave me the opportunity of knowing a bit about this man I respect and regard as someone special, not only for my music, but for myself.

Here’s to you Ivan, with all my esteem and affection.

What can I say, I am stunned and deeply honoured... Trust me, just that one little prayer for help is always answered, somehow, someway. If you believe, it works. That's the trick. I can only thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul for your support and kind words, to Pierre-Marie and everyone else I have met along the way. That is the way it comes out of me anyway. Truth is our salvation, for sure. As a piece of music, to be analysed and encapsulated into such a profoundly beautiful manner of sound sculpture, it paints a thousand words and images into my mind and spirit and will remain there indelibly. People will say what they like of you my friend, but your timing is impeccable. Fond regards and the deepest thanks, Ivan1984

The Lighthouse Effect

I found writing a review of this work a bit difficult. To try to keep some logic and order in what I am saying I shall split my review into three parts. Part one. I found this a really enjoyable work. It is like a music mosaic. Patchwork parts skillfully crafted together. Lightweight in feel overall but still containing elements of beat, tribal and ethnic in part. A hint of new age and classical come in and out but always with some fine underlying electronica holding the individual motifs together. I wouldn't exactly term it "easy listening" but it is very easy on the ear. My score of 9 for this work is based totally on this first part. Part two. Now things begin to become less clear. I know Ivan and I think I know him quite well. I have a "music vision" of him. This tribute to him, which I fully applaud, does not match my vision in any aspect at all. I work in classical music on a daily basis and so will use popular classical composers as a basis for trying to explain why I feel like I do. This tribute I would class as "Vivaldi with attitude".(I do not mean the music sounds like Vivaldi, it does not. It is more the overall effect/feel of the piece). For me Ivan is somewhere on the "sensitive side of Wagner". Vivaldi and Wagner are poles apart, both good but in totally different ways. Mahler or no Mahler I struggle to find any of my vision of the real Ivan contained within the music. Part three. OK, so this part is nothing directly to do with this review, sorry Pierre. It is aimed at Ivan and my music vision of him. For me the "soundtrack to Ivan" is already written. It is a piece by the classical/contemporary composer Benedict Mason called "Lighthouses of England and Wales". I would sum it up as deep, complex and involved but with warmth, heart and sensitivity. Taken a stage further even the title has meaning. Ivan, towering high like a lighthouse, beaming out his words of wisdom over the seas of the Jamendo world from his attic roost on the borders of England and Wales. Perfect. As you know Ivan my music and I are 12,000 odd miles apart at the moment but if you fancy listening to the piece I think you can guess who has a copy. I will shut up now but thanks to Pierre for his music and Ivan for the inspiration. Actually Pierre your music does remind me of someone, me!

Grand sound Pierre with stedy almost tribal rhytm with combination of synthetic voices and beat which combines memorises on (british) Test Dept "Pax Britannica" and on pieces of Mahler Symphonies. Beatifull piano passage in the middle. What i like in best pieces in music of Jamendo autheurs is ability for twist, turns, changes, playing, experimenting. In short it's full of suprises and it mekes it real listening adventure. This little Ivan symphony is one of this precious pieces. Thank You Pierre! I don't believe it. I wrote joke about Ivan and short but nice comment on Pierres music and Jamendo eat it. I wrote again and Jamendo done it again! This happens much too often!

Well done. Great job giving recognition to one of the communities leading reviewers. I feel like making an album after getting a review from him as well, ha! In a groggy state I turned on my computer this morning and listened to this as I became more awakened. It was a really calming way to regain consciousness.
