De l'ambient c'est bien. Très répétitif, sans originalité, sans une personnalité propre, ça déjà ça dérange. Si en plus ça dure depuis plus de 3 albums sans renouvellement...

So when did a bit of repetition bother a man?...

This artist has that little special something that makes this music powerful in its effect. That is quite an achievement, especially in its particular form. Long, subtle soundscaping creating a genuine environment of transcedent existentialism. The second track is more amenable perhaps because of the mimicry of wind, which is more easily understood. Imagine that, wind being your only sense of tangibility! A singularity in sensitivity to your environment, and I think that's key here, the intimation of being in a particular place, albeit Jupiter perhaps. Why not, it's full of gases in turmoil. Mankind's digestive tract, spread out on the slab of prophecy. How many other spaces do we wish to inhabit, instead of the one we find ourselves in, wherever that may be, as you read this. Maybe not, perhaps it can wait until tomorrow, but there's the rub:-) Life is repetitive and music that reflects, invokes, instils, transport that very intimation is like a distinct clue to the truth of life. A picture of a pipe is after all, a picture of a pipe. Why complain about the reality of life as we perceive it? Now, I'm onto A Flux of Red Water and for me that speaks volumes and of another repetitiveness of our human existence. The apparently inescapable violence on a personal to global level. When will it ever stop? Will it ever? There are some inclinations we could well do without. Take Greed for example, what kind of a weapon that is! Enough to make the water run red for sure. Sad but true. The conscience of the world is accountable to the event. In through, again a fascinating sculpting of sound and distant, forgotten realms of indecent exposure to fear in the face of the enemy. There are still people who remember Nagasaki and Hiroshima, but there are a lot who don't. The ones you have to watch, are the ones who know they know, with their fingers poised at the ready. If in doubt, wipe it out and that reflects in even our crumbling economic structure, let alone sociologically and psychologically. Trauma as disease of the world. This is a track of desolation through destruction In Through the arms of hell on earth, in, hopefully to a painless place. For the sake of innocent death in any form, or other harmful privation upon the individual. Otherwise, the world could end up sounding like this track for real. That's not to be seen other than being a horrific possibility, and unfortunately still, after thirty years of my own understanding and awareness, a very distinct possibility. So, the music conveys a deep seated fear, a distrust with those in power. Now the propaganda trick is to overwhelm and hence lead to an informed sense of confusion. Sneaky really, but it's working. Disinformation. Oh, and some downright lies. Must not forget the lies. Night on Moon brings all sorts of celestial frameworks into play, which moon where being the first in my mind. So, we may utitlise our wonderful imaginations perhaps to envisage where and how that might be. Our perspectival angle is shifted, to another barren place more than likely. Otherwise it would be populated. Then again maybe it is by existences beyond our comprehension. Look how long it took to crack the atom, when people had been guessing right on the nail hundreds of years ago. Unfortunately, a lot of that was intuitive guesswork and we have, certainly in a scientific way, demanded that such investigation be in the form of empirical research, the formation of 'fact'. What kind of fact is here sought? One for the artist, one for the listener, times infinity at both ends. There is an eerie naturalism to it. A like for like painting. The last track again retains an necessarily otherworldliness to it. In that sense it is superficially repetitive maybe, but it seems a bit tenuous as a reasonable assessment of the talent of this artist. That repetitiveness proves, either they are very good at it, or they are stuck in a rut. Judging from memory of other work, I'm with the former and believe that there is a distinct, but very subtle talent at work here. If you don't like it, find something you do. If you don't like it, change it. If you change it, it might make it all better. Am I leaning on my natural melancholia to wonder if it's too late already, or am I sensing a truth? If you don't like ambient, subtle, thought-provoking music, give this one a miss. They all have their place is the cosmic expanse of space.
