About this album

  • Updated: 24/07/2009

The third and also the darkest Ristikiehtova full-length. Filled with unsavoury musical elements, false expectations and misplaced author pride, it is an audio trip few are eager to take. The concept this time is pretty abstract, mainly about Ristikiehtova itself and how I've felt lately.

Credits:

Ristik. - concept, synths, vocals, programming, flute (tracks 1, 2 and 5),
kantele (tracks 1, 3 and 5), acoustic guitar, album cover

Ilja Koslonen - electric guitar on tracks 1 and 5

"Tapoinen" - guest spoken word on track 5

Public domain horror movies - ambience for track 5

so you felt lately? well, i expected another musical dark dream (as i know your style)... but this symphony is more than music, this is a piece of musical theatre about the inner life of a man. very expressive, but meditative too; strange, but well known too... are this really the sounds of bad feelings? there is a magical atmosphere and i hear hope... a fascinating work!

A dark and serious personal work with a considerable charge of Weltschmerz in it, emphasized with painful, naked vocals and fitting sound effects. This musically talented young artist deliberately leaves this time away the musical playfulness that we have heard on his previous albums but delivers instead a cold menu of darker emotional statements or declarations with minimal entertainment value and just a hint of humour. Not an album for everybody, but at the same time in its dark, non-compromising nature a good indication of an artist making his music out of deeper, non-calculating inner motivations which is a healthy foundation for serious art.
