About this album

  • Updated: 03/04/2007

That's what is called experimental music. I've seen several times albums entitled as experimental that had nothing to do with this. Apparently some people think that experimenting with their new keyboard or software makes them experimentalists. Experimental music means music that researches the concept of what is called music, and that's what you'll find in this album. The artist uses computer as his instrument, frequencies as notes and textures as melodies. What is called music by the majority of people is not his aim. The album's genre is "experimental-emotional", unfortunately I can't say that I had too much positive emotions while listening to this album. It was ugly mostly. 95% of experimental music I've heard so far were ugly and unpleasant. Why can't experimental music be beautiful? Does it contradict each other? I guess not, cause I've heard quite beautiful experimental works. I guess it's just the easiest way. For example try to draw, sculpture or create by any other means a beautiful face. Pretty hard, huh? While an ugly face anyone can create without special difficulty. You see my point, Glue Trax? I highly regard your explorative spirit and your daring approach to the concept of music, but those good qualities only by themselves are not enough for creating of something decent. Well, for me at least.

dude, where's the music? as jussi already noticed, there's just sounds here - and not the kind of sounds that make you Autechre, the kind of sounds that make you Luzinda Warrior (who you can look up on jamendo, if you dare). i seriously do consider this unlistenable - it's not even experimental, it's just samples thrown around for a bit. i never thought i'd say it about another album, but i'll say it again - you could have done the same thing by smashing your face into a keyboard in front of Cubase and mixing. please, add at least a backbeat to this, mix it up a little, turn the weird sounds into weird melodies or weird vocals and make this into an experimental album instead of a failed experiment.
