Reviews for "The Lost World"

The intro song, "Miserere Mei" is a moaning, chanting crashing song to get your attention and then leads into the more elegant tune of "Two Moons" which gives great portent and warning with female vocals and a male muttering something I couldn't understand but it made me nervous. I loved the title song, "The Lost World"'s, drama, vocals, bells and mystical melody. The tune fades in and out and weaves around your head and intrigues you. It seems to be telling a sad tale which ends in emptiness and destruction. "Tethys Sea" has sonar and whale sounds along with a crashing ocean and becomes a fine dance tune - well, I danced to it. Very nice, very catchy, upbeat. I could picture a dolphin flying through the waves but becoming lonelier and lonelier until in the end a baby cries and there is the sucky sound of dripping water. One of my favorites on this album is "Laurasia & Gondwana" with its chorus and feeling of raw power and brave instrumentals. "The Gods of Night" starts with an unusual chanting, circular sound around the camp fire. It is a warm ethnic tune which draws you into the dark, under the open starred night, as you are mesmerized by the tale being told in the flickering light. I just wish that one were a little longer because I was really charmed under its spellbinding music. "Fire Rain" was similar but faster in tempo and more wild. "Change the World" is really powerfully monumental in makeup. I think it is a promise that we will destroy our world if we don't change our war mongering, narcissistic ways. I love this kind of protest music. You can just enjoy it as great music or read the poetry between the melodies. I enjoyed this album as if it were a nine act play. I am so glad that I ran into this album accidentally on Jamendo. It is an outstanding piece of art by Jakub Fijak.
