The Long Walk Home is the first full-length album of solo material released by singer and bassist Kev Moore. It is an eclectic mix of styles, from funk to rock, to 60's pop, and all things in between, even including a ballad in Spanish.

Kev says: "I passionately believe in writing what you feel in the moment, and avoid the pigeonholing that some major labels try to force upon their artists."

For many years a part of a band, Kev chose to handle all the instrumentation and programming himself to make this a truly solo effort. 

"I hope those who choose to listen, enjoy!"

A little background about some of the the songs:

I approach every song differently, some start as a riff, some from a phrase I've heard, but here's a little insight into one or two tracks from the album.

A Cat called Caramel - This was written after hearing my girlfriend say she had "a cat called caramel" - it was just such a great phrase, and the song evolved as a double-meaning tale, either about a cat, or a dodgy character that wanders the streets, take your pick! The bass riff, which I think evokes a cat on the prowl, I evolved during some jam sessions with jazz musos here in Spain.

The Long Walk Home - This started life as a poem, which is why it doesn't really have a chorus. The simple acoustic lead line is just somethign I was messing with and my girlfriend said "don't forget that!"

You Don't Own Me - I originally wrote this for my friend the R&B singer Jaki Graham. she hasn't recorded it yet, but you never know!

Little Miss Understanding - This is directly inspired by the kind of stories Roald Dahl became known for, and the naughty kids that populate them!

Strawberry House - This was directly inspired by one of my partner Miki's paintings. It prompted me to go for a 60's "Ogdens' Nut-gone flake" pastiche, with some fun nonsense verse.
