Very nice album with great violin arrangements and well fitting beat compositions. Nevertheless some titels are a bit to much melancholic und lead to a depressing mood. All in all an album one should listen to at least ones, since on all accounts there are innovative elements which are worth listening to.

Juste un peu court pour un album Dan Masquelier come back with an acoustic album, without voice this time. Less pop, this contains a music that put you in a contemplative state of mind. I feel like I'm listening to a soundtrack. (a tought to a "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" , less tortured) Instead of repeating himself, he choosed to evolve. I appreciate that. Great explorations of multiples and mastered instruments, guitar, violin, piano, drums + a discrete pinch of electro The combination of the guitar and the violin is really impressive and the way th The sound is just perfect to me (I'm not an expert) Maybe too short for a album... Well, I haven't been doing many reviews lately--because, I'm tired of doing them. But I felt obliged to do one for this album since the artist chose my home state for the map center on his album cover - cool. I was also interested in the theme. Young people and elderly people seem to tend toward the melancholic emotional attitudes. Life has its moments when it seems especially bleak and I thought the artist, Dan Masquelier, was very good at expressing this emotion with his violins and other instruments in his concoctions. I really liked "Sea Creatures" which was eery, and echoey, and pretty. "Believe" had a very nice melodic piano. I found "Toast" to be the most upbeat and it had a fullness of musical layers, but it was also very short. I felt that "Abyss" was the most expressive and interesting and on the experimental side. Although these compositions were sad emotionally, instead of being dark, dreary, and heavy, they were light and soft which injects a ray of optimism and hope. There seemed to be a lot of white spaces in these compositions, also, along with some hesitancy or shyness in these songs which gave them a strong appeal. This artist uses a great deal of introspection with his poetic melodies which projects his feelings very clearly.
