Eastside is Son Electronique's fifth release on Jamendo.
The tunes on this album are memories to a midsummer trip to Berlin in June 2009.

EastsideSolitary Traveller:
The intro is an adaption of Edvard Grieg's Lyric Pieces Book III, Opus 43 (1886).

Summer In Berlin:
Just a happy tune simply inspired by a sightseeing tour thru  Germany's capital.

A Place Like Home:
I always feel at home in Berlin, just like my girlfriend. So wherever we're together, it is a place like home.

Product Of The Environment:
Inspired by a visit at the Tacheles at the Oranienburger Str. Everytime I go there I wonder if it's the last time I see this amazing ruin full of culture and diversity. The phrase "Product Of The Environment" is from the motion picture "The Departed" and is spoken by Jack Nicholson.

Alex In The Sun:
Sitting at the huge Alexander Square, enjoying the summer sun.

Future City:

The new buildings at Potsdamer Platz are a real future city.

Molcule Men:
I love this sculpture of the American artist Jonathan Borofsky at the river Spree. They symbolize the three Berlin districts Kreuzberg,  Friedrichshain and Treptow and at the position of this installation they meet.

Buildings Have Eyes:
Our hotel was near the old headquarter of the Eastgerman security service called "Staatssicherheit". Everytime we walked back to our hotel from the subway station I felt that the buildings had eyes and someone's wathcing us. Strange feeling, but the these times are gone forever ...

Ship In The Night:
The last tune on this album is dedicated to the time when the western part of Berlin really was a "ship in the night", surrounded by a dark, communist state. The title s inspired by  phrase of Barclay James Harvest's "Berlin".
