‘Ghosts’ is an album about distance and loss. 

‘Ghosts’ was written while I was away from home, working in a foreign country. A great distance separated me from the two people who matter the most and inevitably that sense of loss is felt throughout the album.

This album is a song cycle that begins with ‘Shoreline’, a song about remaining hopeful while watching all that matters fade into the distance and ends with ‘Without Strings’, about reuniting and trying to recapture the past.

While I was away I spent what little free time I had playing guitar or one of the pianos that were available and  documenting my thoughts, feelings, and emotions.  Eventually, I amassed a large collection of ideas and song snippets and using my laptop began to form the ideas in to songs.

Upon my return home I had completed writing and had 12 songs that were ready to move to the next phase of the process.  After deciding which tracks best told the story I wanted to tell, I began to work on finalizing arrangements and instrumentation.

I wanted this album to feel more 'raw' than my previous albums.  I only wanted to use 'real' instruments, guitars, piano, organs, strings etc.  However, as the songs evolved, more electronic bits crept in to help fill out the sound.
