About this album

2007 is an important year. For the first time in human history more people are living in cities, compared to living in other areas on the planet's surface. I let this amazing fact inspire me during the difficult task of cutting down one year of musical exploration to less than one hour.

The twelve instrumental pieces are solo performance work, played on the instruments Alto Traverse Flute, Tenor Sax, Fretless Sustainiac Guitar, Stratocaster Twang Bar Guitar and Akai EWI 4000s. EWI stands for "Electric Wind Instrument" and is to be played similar to a sax or a clarinet. I play both the EWI's built-in synthesizer sounds and use it as a MIDI controller for virtual instrument parches I created in the software Logic Pro, or my own sample patches that I have recorded with my own electric guitars and tube amplifier plus speaker cabinet.

Most songs were created and recorded as instant improvisations with the real-time sampling/looping software Mobius. I personally regard also Mobius as my instrument, since I'm really experiencing that I'm playing Mobius with my foot controller board while also playing the above mentioned instruments with my hands.

If you should be interested in buying my music on CD I'd like to recommend CD Baby

Be sure to also check out my little more noisy duo Lo Fi Lazer together with Tryggve Lund!<

After the splendid "Oooh", another great job. The same basic elements and technique, with more freedom in expressivity and solos, for an high quality final result, with a little lack of intensity only in Commuter train experience...(but it's only my taste). An important instrumental voice, here on Jamendo

Splendid music. The sax and the guitars are superb. The well worked sound. Small with dimensions "the jazzy" To commutate Train Experiment is well brought and mixes it styles airs this album. Camel Ride Slumber remains my preferred bus very melancholic person. Large Mercy and good continuation

Electronic looping

I pretty much liked your disc "Ooooh", and I decided to explore the rest of your work. While this disc shows the same looping approach than the first one, it turns out not as successful for me. The textures are more "electronic/techno" and less organic and they don't work too much for me unfortunately. Besides several exceptions (like the Mike Oldfield-like guitar of "Mistwood" for example or the fragile beauty of "The Screening Generation"), the songs don't grow on me, even though they keep the bravery and risky approach. Also, in my honest opinion you have lost here some special quality that made "Oooh" so beautiful to me, the fact that music was constructed from the addition of some simple, "non-ego" parts (if you know what I mean) that were merged seamlessly without no instrument or phrase standing "out" of the rest. Here, it seems to me that some instruments (specially guitar in some parts of many songs) want to "impress" with a quick phrase, thus loosing all the added stasis or climax. "Transit Area Wonders" is maybe the best example. It has some building up parts with flute that start growing in beauty, when suddenly they are disrupted by some electronic-like screams on sax(?) or guitar(?) that cuts all development. I find lot of good music here, and I am sure people with a more techno/electronic background would appreciate this disc better, but for me is not nearly as beautiful or appealing as "Ooooh". Anyway a very interesting work. Looking forward your third.

Annother fantastic album by Per more 'earthy' than 'Oooh' paricularly a song likes me very much: 'Mistwood' it has by me the harmonic taste of a very fine and simple costructions with a diabolic solo on fretless guitar. This album is a full immersion in sounds, harmonics, melodies, things, tubes, smells, parfums, tastes, goodies, little things that spreds our mind....the whole world seems different after having listen to it!
