This sounds like a very melancholy Don McLean. Another artist that comes to mind when listening to this album is Andrew Bird. Alex has a lovely voice for singing this kind of folk music. The lyrics are very good but the music is a bit bare. In my opinion collaboration with other musicians would result in an exceptional album. I really like this album but unfortunately the lack of variation in style means that I have marked it down to a 7. The jazz tag is misleading.

Bailey´s voice vaguely reminds me of Badly Drawn Boy. I think it´s interesting that many reviews of this album (both praising and negative) compare Bailey to Nora Jones. I´m not a big fan of Nora Jones since I think the production arrangement is too "silky smooth". It doesn´t leave much of an impression on me. Bailey however sometimes has a nerve in his voice which makes his music more interesting. And that is why I like this album although it´s not my genre. Arguably however, the album is a bit too long considering it´s lack of variation.

Une sorte de Norah Jones de l'époque "Come Away with me" au masculin. J'adore ! :) Seulement 8/10 à cause de quelques imperfections par moment :(

Really amazing album. Sweet and blue voice with a huge talent for piano playing... As nice as sad, I really enjoyed these songs. Thank you for the music ***
