About this album

  • Updated: 05/07/2010

Welcome to Essex, England, 2010. Ruled by robber barons and their robot serfs. Pubs boarded up, cripples laughed at and victims of crime drugged up into a vegitative state. Tabloid papers that savagely attack the poorest of the poor, and a government that seems intent on bringing back workhouses. Mansions of financiers build on the tears of poverty. Bands that are just "tributes".. etc etc.

Still , at least I've got some happy pills and a PC and I can amuse myself writing compositions such as this.

"Landrover Disco" Good fast paced electronic piece with a great variety of sounds and made for dancing. The melodies seem to walk(possible jog a little) where the pace is galloping. I thought this did appear to clash a couple of times but it was quite minor and didn't stop the foot-stamping. "Twilight 15 - The Cinram Years" Bit of a quirky electronic melody driven start. Just as the high energy percussion arrived it disappeared to allow a slow purposeful melody which I though sounded a little out of place. The energy lifted and again faded to fulfill the purpose which I now expected and this time quite enjoyed. Not a bad track, but the duck quacking was a little overdone. "Wonderpig" A more traditional and familiar Electronic/Techno mix(if there is such a thing) with the expected rhythm and sharp melodies. Great fast bass-line with mid-paced percussion does the job. Great track. "Ghetto" Very good music, vocals, hmm, and absolutely great lyrics. A wealth of sound with various stages all with more to deliver, Oh and have I mentioned the great lyrics. Bit of a mix with some quirkiness, high energy and vocals. Vocals remind me of a younger Paul Weller, and the lyrics were great. I enjoyed the variety, the various styles and thought it a great listen. Also a great, though depressing album description. Speaking of depressing, England exit the World cup before the quarter finals again. With the holes in the defense, left side and some attackers not been able to hit a barn door while leaning against it, where and will it all end. After all the death of expectation last week it was good to enjoy a bit of London's stellar. Sorry, had to get that off my chest. Great music to drown one's sorrows to. Oh, and Happy Birthday Luke.

Luke, not my kind of thing but "ghetto" reminded me of my time growing up on a council estate in Essex. Keep it up and use it, the power i mean, it will get you where you want to be. Regards From an older Essex Boy to another.
