Songs of Vastness brings together four deep ambient tracks, two of them from last year, and two fresh creations from this summer. Common to all of these tracks is their peaceful, meditative style and a topic representing some specific aspect of nature’s vastness. Steppe (from summer 2009) tells an atmospheric story of the boundless plains of the steppes, reflecting Lena’s personal memories from the time she lived in the Russian part of Kazakh Steppe as a young music teacher. Plateau (from November 2009) and Lofoten (from July 2010) are both inspired by our recent trips to Norway, the former reflecting the cool and calm majesty of the Central Norwegian plateau, and the latter the scenic beauty of the Lofoten Islands. Mir (from August 2010) is a meditative space ambient track inspired by the Russian space station Mir and its dreamlike zero gravity atmosphere.
These are all songs with a calm, positive cosmic vibe – music for relaxation, inner journeys and meditation.

Such a beautiful, generous ambient/new-age album - shining through like that big blue marble hanging in the raw black of the solar system, charged with energy and life but peaceful in appearance from the viewpoint of the angels. The music is from their viewpoint, it would seem, for there is such a gentleness and a placid smoothness throughout the songs, delighting the listener with soft mutterings, and the sweet tinkling of wind chimes which are a good indication of a lazy, harmonious afternoon when the fresh breezes pick up and offer hope and release from the weary labors of the day. What a gem we have in this music.

Wiatr pustyni,mrok i przestrzeń.Trudno nie ulec majestatowi klimatu-atmosfery doniosłości w każdym z utworów.

Música propia para meditar, o tal vez para ilustrar imágenes sobre la creacion del Universo. En todo caso es una música ambiental extraordinaria que te incita a soñar, ya sea en paisajes de caracter cosmico, o en maravillosos cuentos de hadas.

As with most of their music Doc and Lena create a multilayered meaning on this album,it can be seen as a visual interpretation of each track,like Steppes we can imagine the physical nature of the music,or we can see further and apply no visual interpratation but experience the sound atmosphere
and contemplate on the experience itself,lastly we can use the sounds as a door to inner meditation,calmness and tranquility.Each track has this depth enclosed within, each track is a liberation from negative realities and each track can take us into a new experience of meditation.This is an excellent album and gives a good representation of their music ,i would reccomend this album to all who love Doc and Lena's music over the years.
