Wow,was soll man dazu sagen..wunderschön,toll,einzigartig..mir gefällt Memories und Grandma's song,besonders aber Memories,tolles Ambient,wäre auch super geeignet für ein Soundtrack..die Melodie weckt Sehnsüchte,Träume,Hoffnungen,eine leichte Traurigkeit...stelle mir gerade vor,ich stehe inmitten einer grünen Wiese,die unendlich weit bis zum Horizont reicht,der Wind die Wolken ziehen an mir vorbei,mein Blick streift durch die Ferne,ich erblicke mein kleines Heim.... ein sehr schöner Song,danke dir!

I always look forward to a new album by Van Syla. Her music builds up my mood and I need her brand of musical sunshine in the depths of winter. In this little album its hard to pick out a favorite because the songs are all so unique. I love "Memories" for its sentiment and drama . . . the strings are expressive and fulfilling . . . they give the wings to fly up and find the dream . . . this one is just plain beautiful . . . maybe this one is my favorite . . . hmmmm . . . "Weekend" is a happy ride with a lilting guitar . . . just like I feel about the weekend coming up after a long hard week at work. Also, it has its contemplative moments . . . and makes me feel like not only is there happiness and anticipation . . . but planning and hope . . . lovely! Could be this is my favorite of the three . . . let me see . . .. The beautiful piano in "Grandma's Song" seems simple . . . but has a complexity that tells a story . . . I hear a little of Van Syla's unique signature beat dancing through in this one . . . this one may be my favorite . . . I just can't seem to chose! If I chose which one is my favorite . . . I will let you know . . . but I think they are all my favorites . . . - M^^W -

Three delighting tracks again breathing a tender relationship to Oldfield. And the tracks themselves and especially the melodies are of such tender beauty, I was sitting here, silently, touched... and with the start of "Grandma's song" I took my guitar playing a spontanous duet with your piano... these songs made my heart sing (and my guitar), there's nothing more to say... just to listen once again. Thanks, Syl, a great recording and a loving gift for the Jamendonians! BTW, Barb's photograph fits perfectly, wonderful!

Supponendo di avere 3 punti per ogni brano più uno di bonus, questi punti sono tutti attribuiti al terzo brano. Perchè? Traccia uno. Il concetto di orchestrazione qui è sconosciuto. Chi si avventura nell'orchestrazione deve sapere la tecnica con cui suonano i vari strumenti impiegati, l'orchestrazione si studia, non si improvvisa, altrimenti si commettono delle incongruenze tremende. Cosa que qui avviene puntualmente. Traccia due. Già è difficile riprodurre la chitarra con una tastiera per chi la chitarra la sa suonare bene, una chitarra suonata con la tastiera, per quanto ben fatta, manca sempre di espressività e di personalità. Qui suona decisamente male. Per entrambe le tracce: la tastiera dà infinite possibilità, ma suonarvi degli strumenti reali è molto molto difficile, è necessario una buon archivio di suoni, lavorare di cesello e saperne appunto di orchestrazione. Diversamente forse è meglio scegliere un altro genere musicale più consono alla tastiera, o semplificare di molto il numero degli strumenti limitandosi a quelli di cui si conosce almeno la tecnica. La terza traccia è la più riuscita, grazie alla semplicità del solo piano senza altri orpelli, la melodia è gradevole, quindi i 3 punti sono tutti suoi, più un punto per incoraggiare a studiare orchestrazione.

'Memories', is a three track, Ambient-Trance, Lightl Classical Crossover album. The style of music in this album is open to debate. Is it is New Age? Is it Contemporary Light Classical? Is Ambient or Melodic Trance? Is it Instrumental Pop? The answer is YES to all of the above. You will find elements of each style and depending upon your EAR-Listeners will each hear differently. Instrumentally, Harp and Acoustic Guitar are superbly replicated by Synthesizer and in doing so each track is given a distinct personality. Track #1. 'Memories', is the album's most "Classical" voice with its Harp and Acoustic String plying the ear with liquid smooth harmonization. Track #2. 'The Week-end', is a deliciously tranquil Guitar piece punctuated with light percussive notes. Track #3. 'Grandma's Song', continues the mellow theme with Piano taking the lead. Ultimately, this is a superbly performed Trio of Medicine for your Soul.

Très joli album, j`aime les trois. ``Weekend`` me encantò, suena muy cool con el ritmo y esas exquisitas guitarras acùsticas, la percusiòn despuès tambièn la vuelve màs alegre. ``Memories`` es una delicia, hermosos sonidos y melodìas, relajante y muy emotiva hacia el final... Y ``Grandma`s Song`` en piano es de gran nivel, y llena de emociòn. Fèlicitations depuis Arg.! ...La foto de orangeupurple es perfecta para el àlbum tambièn!
