About this album

  • Updated: 21/03/2011

Watching whole night the japanese news and fiddling around with wav's from geronimodeleon in my studio resulted in these tracks.

Hope the shiny lights come through in these dark spheres.

Thanks gero for your wav's  "F3 drone 2.1", "Game of marbles"  and "35 second rain".

Apocalyptic snapshots...

I find dronerisms peculiarly fascinating. Re... perhaps the start of something 'new', although I might argue the toss based on the aforementioned fascination. Life itself may be experienced and/or sensed as being intrinsic to this manner of representation, presupposing that there is a point. Ac... the point where the friction occurs. That parade of 'living' against the backdrop drone of the universe. Ac-tivation, with a relevance to polarity and equilibrium. Something that is topically being displayed in the activity of the world around us all, from our various and sometimes similar nodes in the network society. How should 'we' AcT? Finally, Tor... expecting to feel there is a summit to be conquered, a la finale. It has a splendid detail and KraftiM has certainly captured the essence of 'drone', and what's more has not insisted that we listen to an album 600MB long. This has the usual quality of attention to the minute differentiation between numbing the synapses into a well-worn configuration with an 'appealing' melody, or tribal beat, and presenting a snapshot of the world... an expression of the weltanschauung of KraftiM (always something I rely on to be well-balanced and considered, at the very least), in a way that feels not only primeval beyond description but also part of my 'present' (world-view etc.) and everybodies future. Drone incorporates subtleties that I imagine a lot of listeners may not have the time or patience for generally, and here is a reasonable adjunct to the KraftiM platter, maybe a good introduction to the genre before that five-hour long album emerges from cyberspace. FuKus... these are tender diversions in an age of extremes, all things being relative.

Sinister-Mechanical Ambiance

'FuKuS', is a three track, Instrumental, Electronica-Ambient album. The word that comes to mind upon hearing this album is INDUSTRIAL and I do not mean in the context of a Style of Music. These songs LITERALLY sound like Living, Monstrous Entities. Track #1. 'Re', has a pronounced Rain-like of Trickling Fluid Effect that is overlay-ed on a Synth Sine Wave Tone. It is easy to imagine this to be the Musical Equivalent of Water in a Nuclear Reactor starting to Boil around the Core as a Crisis starts to build. Track #2 'Ac', Sine Wave Tone is Dominantly Present. The Sound is a Sonic Wall that is Solid and Pervasive. Occasional sub Sounds are heard in Counter Point to the Unwavering Sine Tone. The impression of the Lesser Tones is not so much of a Watery sound but a Wind-like Lament which is Vast and Growing larger and more Ominous. Trac #3. 'Tor', Is, perhaps, the Quietest of the songs and begins with a Blowing Wind Effect( not Howling) that gradually shifts to a Rain-like( as heard in Track #1) then Sine Wave Tone. In some respects this track is Peaceful or maybe more accurately Tranquil. The Vibe is really quite Soothing as fills the ear with Sound that literally Settles then builds like a growing Snowbank. I suppose this could be the Sonic Metaphor of Radiation. You can not see it, feel it or taste it yet it covers One with a slow approaching Death which is not immediately apparent. Incidentally, just in case you did not catch the play on Title..... Re-Ac-Tor= Reactor as in Nuclear Reactor. ;-)

Reacting on Reactor(s). Re - Is it increasing or decreasing of water level? Clear frozen moment before explosion maybe. Like it! Ac - I am thinking about map of region before Tsunami this sounds like mud landscape after it with sounds of killed electricity... It's interesting that all this still sounds like KraftiM soundscape. Tor - Sounds like tension and Fear. Radiation is out here in atmosphere and rain. Noisy I like it. Very impressive reacting with sound my friend! I like it very much.

Gets the job done

Ambient built from particularly minimal ingredients - if I got the album description right, there are only a few sounds used to make this EP. It shows, though: the textures share similarities in all of the songs. Initially, I didn't like the idea, but it does help the cohesiveness and immersion on a longer run quite a lot. The songs are the same, but still different. The mood can be interesting and unnatural, even visual. I got imagery like grains of sand falling in sped up motion through some orange haze, or thoughts of some vaguely industrial processes (indeed, a certain recent nuclear incident was a direct inspiration for this album). All in all, it's a pretty effective (albeit short) release that benefits from the minimalistic approach.
