Relaxed and Made For Chilling

"Lowell" The slow string melody over a guitar sub-melody worked quite well and provided a beautifully relaxed Folk atmosphere even with the light Country feel. "The Town and the City" A good slow and soft keyboard/guitar backdrop weaved on but the piece only really came to life with the introduction a searching saxophone. The return to the former sound seemed a little more excepting after the chilled saxophone work. "The Night is Red with Stars" A traditional Jazz start with a sweeping Saxophone followed by the slow strolling piano work with the traditional intermittent side-stepping notes. The bass hiding itself within the theme and setting a nice little rhythm really enforced the pure Jazz. "Visions of Cody 1" A good acoustic guitar form moved through at a slow pace. The overall sound was relaxing thorough the strumming and stroking of the guitar, with the picked melody adding flavour. The string styled melody broke up some of the monotony. "Visions of Cody 2" A slow paced piano led Jazz piece with a light bass and brushed percussion. A flicker here and there brings a more contemporary feel to the genre. The flow of this sound makes it hard not to be forced into relaxation. "Satori in Paris" The jaunty piano flowed over this piece with little regard for much else and I didn't feel much can out of this. I felt a steady backdrop set at a nice pace, and a piano jumping around and unsettled. The piano melody could have worked well elsewhere. I just felt it out of place here. "American Haikus" Another Jazz feast, but along with the sparkly keyboard this one contained a sprinkling of poetry. The piano contained some wonderful finger-work, with some stroking rather than hitting of the keys. I've avoided commenting on the poetry as this is not really my thing. I found the music in the main really relaxing and made for chilling. The keyboard work were the best for me, with "American Haikus" demonstrating this very well. I found a few gray areas that didn't do much for me, but overall, the downbeat nature I found was superb.
