"Into the Vertical" is an EP that draws from my rock climbing experiences. It is an experiment - a fusion of three of my pastimes: music, climbing and design. Each track explores a different facet of climbing and is inspired by different artists.
"First Ascent" is influenced by trance artist, Daniel Heatcliff, and delves into the competitive aspect of climbing. Be it for competition or just pure fun, climbers often gather to attempt a successful send of a particular bouldering problem. This track attempts to capture the positive competitive energy of these climbers.
"Outer Sanctum" chronicles a lone adventurer's discovery of an untainted landscape, ripe with stone unsullied by human hands. Originally inspired by Daft Punk's Tron soundtrack and E.S. Posthumus' Unearthed, hints of modernization and technology creep their way into the soundscape... perhaps a foreshadowing of the inevitable defiling of the land.
"Once Again", inspired by Frou Frou's Must be Dreaming, is all about the fighting spirit and the power to overcome adversity. I attempted to create a more uplifting and positive track in contrast to my usual grim, minor and harmonic pieces. I suppose the message of this track applies to more than just climbing, but success as a rock climber certainly requires determination and persistence.
I hope you enjoy this brief work as much as I enjoyed making it.

Please stay courteous and be sincere (for good and bad!). It can be an interesting read for others, but only if it is constructive and doesn't disparage the artist.
Please write about the music itself and don't be too hard on the sound quality of some demos.
