    • Gorshin: Producer, Arrangement.

This is my third Jamendo album under the name of Mawr Gorshin (I've also published Jamendo albums, mostly of classical music, under my original name, Martin Gross).  Once again, I've written songs in a wide variety of styles.

'Lucille' is a dance song with an erotic theme (don't take it too seriously: it's just for fun).  It's melodically based on an octatonic scale, and I experimented with a little vocal fry register. 'Angelic Devils' reminds us to distinguish between those families, religious leaders, and politicians who are good...and those who are bad.  A little vocal fry there, too, as well as some falsetto.  Musically, it is influenced by Tricky's song 'Money Greedy' and Balinese gamelan music.  'Infinite Ocean' is a speculation about the mystical unity of the universe: musically, the melodies of each instrument rise and fall like the waves of the ocean, but in time signatures that are mostly different from each other to symbolize how all the cycles of life occur in an infinitely complex combination of ways.  'My Cold Heart', in 7/8 time, is about my difficulty (and, by extension, many people's difficulty) with accepting the love and friendship of others.  'Tribal Victory March', musically a combination of African, Balinese, and 20th century classical elements, is a satirical look at the xenophobic mentality of those who celebrate violence against other nations.  During the instrumental section, you'll hear a whole-tone scale, octatonic scale, and other unusual scales, all of whose dissonance symbolize the violence and hatred expressed, at the beginning, by the demagogue and his thoughtless followers.  'The Happy Song' is in a 1930s jazz style.  'Moonlit Strolls' is my attempt at off-off-off-off....etc., Broadway.  In 'Nothing to Fear', we hear more mystical speculations.  'I'm Hip' is a straightforward rock song.

Again, I sang all the lead and background vocals, and played all the instruments.  You'll hear electric (Gibson SG) guitar, acoustic guitar, and classical guitar.  Also, there are keyboards (a Roland sampler piano and a Yamaha synthesizer), percussion (bongoes, tambourine, maracas, triangle, cowbell [let me know if more is needed], claves, etc.), and wind instruments (alto and soprano recorders, harmonica, and a little bit of ocarina).

This time, Mawr Gorshin does not attempt to really please us, but to express what he has on his mind. The lyrics, the poetry of this man are like shoutings that shake you. The music goes along and supports his state of mind. It had to be! And when you see that he did it "all" by himself, you can only be very respectful listening to such an awesome work. The music is teeming with originalities. I note the improvement in the recording of the singing, but I miss a little more upfront presence. Great work Mawr. Thanks for sharing.

Clearly personal pop songs with the unic color of a very fun compositions as Martin can offering us. I enjoyed at the first second the whole taste of the blend... Still the influences of some great Legendary Band's + something a little more that could be crazyness... lyrics and truth ... Thanks Cv?vC

So . . Mawr, in all his creativity is able to demonstrate a brilliant story telling ability and musical production and composition talent .. .. He also has a huge sense of humor, satire, and a stronger sense of injustice . . . which he shares with us in every way . . . smooth singing and various styles and genres of music . . all excellent and all with a special stamp of a style unique to Mawr Gorshin! I am particularly fond of his instrumental music . . . One of my favorites was "Angelic Devils," with its stunning music and pertinent lyrics . . . Mawr is an excellent lyric writer . . weaving together his philosophy and entertaining stories . .. in a descriptive and poetic manner . . . much of it being a mild and interesting form of protest against human values and civil abuses . . . such as "Tribal Victory March" which gave me an emotional shudder . . . My feet had to dance with "The Happy Song" . . and "Moonlit Strolls" is a beautiful close dance, sentimental and romantic . . . Over all this is a highly entertaining and informative album . . . everything is done in a professional style and very enjoyable . . except I, personally, didn't care for "Lucille" . . . and I'm not sure why . . . but I loved the rest of this delightful album.

Congrats Mawr, a very artistic album to enjoy, very versatile. ``Lucille`` is great, I loved the ambient created with the rhythm and the voice changing to the final. ``Infinite Ocean`` is a jewel for me, the voices work is admirable, and sounds very particular the melody with those sounds. ``My Cold Heart`` is another of my favorites here, very creative, cool ambient, warm voice and nice sax (if I`m right). ``Tribal Victory March`` is so particular, the first part like gospel for me, but I don`t know, and I love the end instrumental with that acoustic guitar and flute... oriental or ethnic. ``The Happy Song`` jazzy is very enjoyable, the voice shines very well for me, in ``Nothing To Fear`` I was hooked with the original accompaniments, well, just my preferences. Cheers from Arg.!

i like the first song "lucille", really mysterious beginning. nice synth sequencing that made a really cool layered arp rhythm. my fav is a "my cold heart", its really cool song not like the song title. sound so gentle. "moonlit strolls" is also very cool, its had a great classic tasted sound. i found best vocal implement on this song. also great lyrics i think. Other song is also cool, very variate and unique. totally is like a more key/synth oriented than latest album.

with a own and very ingenious sound construction! Here, the artist let play freely his mind. Each track brings his own musical universe! A very balanced sound selection with an innovative overall concept! In any case a album for listening carefully. Good job I like. Friendly C.J.
