Jamendo.com, as mentioned earlier, is a great place to download Creative Commons music. One of the neat features of the site is that it allows users to comment on any album and have it show up on a blog. Justin (that's me) has decided to create an account on Jamendo for Creative Commons Canada so that we can blog about new Canadian albums that arise on Jamendo.
The first featured album, Balance, is a compilation created by Fading Ways Records to promote a balance between users and rights holders in copyright law. You can click on the album cover to visit the Jamendo homepage for the album and see what other people have said about it.
Any Canadian Jamendo artist interested in being featured on our blog, or any user interested in blogging Jamendo albums can contact justin )at( creativecommons.ca.
This is a nice minimal album, slightly noisy samples but very listenable. Mostly ambient music, I wouldn't call it dark though.
I like "Rampe" a lot (too bad that in the vorbis download its title is swapped with "T'en vas pas"). It reminds me of something but I can't quite recall what, it has kept me puzzling for quite a while with no answer forthcoming.
These guys are serious students of the '60s, but not a blatant ripoff of anyone or anything. Innovative arrangements updated for the new century. I don't get any of the lyrics, but I'm usually don't listen for the words. The sound is all there!
Great music! I produce downtempo and have to say this is an excellent album. Great to chill, really great when having a few people over to your pad. Do yourself a favor, and get this album!!!!
This music is truly awesome! I accidentally stumbled across it when searching thru a number of albums. I highly recommend the 1st song and the 5th song.
I am very, very thankful for this music and am looking for more to come in the future.
One of the first things I've listened to here on Jamendo and I'm quite glad I happened to click it in one of my random, crazy download sprees.
It's calm, but you can still pay attention to the details and get a lot of thought out of it. That's a good way to think of it; thought provoking.
I've listened to this album dozens of times since I first found it a week ago, I really enjoy it. Reminds me a little of Ladytron and Mogwai. I can't wait for the next album!
Wow. I am so happy about this being free music. Ranges from Space-Ambient, "New-Age-Ambient", Piano-Ambient (yeah, I just made those genres up, but you'll know what I mean). Wonderful warm melodies. Definitely a download and star from me. This goes straight into my "great free ambient from the internet" folder. Thanks!
