Black/death/grind metal demo/EP with an amazingly unnerving mix. It's not really heavy - it's more like a warm buzzing to one's ear. Reminds me of 8-bit times and a summer with insects flying around. This set of sounds does not necessarily portray evilness but it at least makes things interesting for a while. One last thing I have to mention about the mix is that it's not completely stable. The last song sounds noticeably different from the rest.
Composition is not generic, showing promise. Acoustic guitar is used to create messy texture or atmosphere. The shorter songs do not really grow up to anything but are not bad either. These kind of quick spurts are what grind is about, isn't it? The last song is the most normal of them all, with a clear, more developed structure and acoustic interludes. It's the best of them all.
Lasting only 9 minutes and being flawed, I'm not inclined to give it a higher rating. Nonetheless I'm interested in hearing more of these guys in the future.
Minimalistic electronic/jazz/other, with a somewhat enlightened but restless and dreamy mood. The ever-present saxofone makes things bluesy. Some ambient overlays bring both psychedelia and concentration to the sound. Things go from the traditional jazz mood to something strangely bouncy and even happy-sounding at times. Cometa's presence is recognizable from some compositional traits and synths. I don't know the other person in this project, but seems like I have to listen to his solo stuff sooner or later too.
Why not more points? The remix of Cometa's "Shine" is not very special in any way. It's pretty much the original song, except quieter and with saxofone inserted on top of it.
It's sort of heavy metal, only with very short songs and dark ambience intertwined between the metal parts. All the songs run to each other, and it's possible there's a story they're telling with their music & lyrics. Good sound all around, there's a decent atmosphere but also heaviness. Gets slightly redundant before the end.
More ambient than waltz of any kind, but the name already gives it a nice ring. The atmosphere is overall chilly and passionate, like watching (and sensing) a dream of broken promises and cinematic events unfold and progress around you. Calm desperation. Makes you restless though it's not loud or disturbing - the energy is under the surface, hidden but strong. If you have time and any love for ambience, then get this.
Again from Schizyfos, short rhythmic arrangements that aim towards some certain aesthetic goal. This time, it's "City". Twinkling lights, nightclubs, accidents. The album's cover expresses most of this music's emotions and moods, except spasticity. The last song is surprisingly sad and longing, and made me wish this whole thing was a lot longer.
Combines futuristic with mystic. The overall sound is dark but versatile, never growing over-the-top, even though sometimes getting quite close to it. (e.g. with choirs and operatic vocals) Pretty active for ambient music. Nothing shocking or destructive, just gloomy. More subtle than average. To close it off: it's a good dark ambient release, fit for most who like dark ambient.
This one is brief and punctual. Genre: "experimental" IDM. It asserts a certain off-the-wall mood which borders between comical and disturbing, all the while changing at a rapid pace (after all, the songs are only minute or two long). Intriguing and contentful. The front cover is seriously awesome and crowns the whole package.
Cometa has a sort of minimalistic but still lush approach to synth-based electronic music. Processed and heavily echoing singing, some polyrhythms creating texture, slow change with new melodies and sounds eventually crowding up the mood. Vibrant and adventurous, though sometimes a tad cheesy because of how the vocals sound.
Glitch/IDM that will make you feel like the person in the cover assumedly feels. Certainly not a very good thing. Harsh, difficult noises and intentional but strange-sourced psychedelia. There are only few moments of calm in this otherwise confusing and stressful EP. Which is fine... No clever ideas or themes, just sheer audial stress for you to bear. If it was longer, it would be even worse (and here I mean worse in a GOOD way).
The music here ranges from slightly weak-wristed minimalistic glitch to alien synth soundscapes. Most of the songs are only a single "part" repeated twice in a row, then ceasing and making way to the next song. None of the songs really sound alike. It's showcasing some potential, but as is - it's just short and unfulfilled. I can imagine it as good game music, partially because of its looping nature.
The best track is "Third" in my opinion. It has a strong, quirky mood of... a strange landscape.
