Great album. This is one of the more professional bands on the site. This album is slightly darker than their earlier one, which IMO is beneficial. It still has playful moments, however, as the songs bound between genres and instruments I'm only vaguely familiar with. I starred this a while ago, but I'm putting up a review to show that I'm giving it two thumbs up as hard as I can.
Exciting and inventive, this album turns me on to Latin music. Songo 21 mixes salsa and big, brassy jazz and unique vocals in a way that reminds of The Mars Volta. There's only four songs here but that hardly matters when it's free.
The last two songs--El Raton and El Cuarto de Tula--I especially recommend.
Interesting French pop music. Some of the (particularly latter) songs seem a little sparse, but most have a mysterious, haunting tone that held my interest. Many of the songs have a heavily synthetic influence (it is pop) that might be a turn off to some.
