Maëliss - The leaving Dream

Maëliss

The leaving Dream

24/10/09

"Down" is a haunting ballad with beautifully sung vocals. Despite the simple vocal solo piano arrangement, judicious use of the stirring harmony backing vocals lends a powerful dynamic to the song, perhaps hinting at the direction a more produced version of the track might take.

"Next to me" adds acoustic guitar and tambourine to the mix, which makes for a pleasant laid back groove. The introduction of the piano mid way through bringing the sense of dramatic tension to proceedings.

Whilst these tracks may only be demos and stripped down to the essentials in nature, I find it hard to find any fault with what is on offer. Both are competent and engaging and I'm sure we can expect to hear great things from this artist in the future.

You heard them here first! ;)

Pristine yet broken, the song of a fallen angel.

An acrobatic display of audio gymnastics, with real soul and groove. One of my favorite electronica artists and a must for all electro and glitch fans.

Cool alternative grungy rock type stuff. Not bad. Give it a try.

KraftiM - Foks

The first tracks a bit too off the wall for me and not the sort of thing I usually listen to. All those bendy voices sound like a broken Dictaphone. A bit like the Beatles Revolution 9, I think this is something I could listen to with interest once or twice, but it's a bit to disorientating for repeated play really.

The second track however is a mutating ambient track that i really like. Its full of a sense of movement and evolution that I think ambient music should be all about (something missing from the first track). I could probably do without the vocal snippets that occur occasionally as I don't think they add much, but overall it's a cool and intriguing ambient excursion.

First tracks not for me so I've based my score on Solif only.

The lush vocal harmonies contrast nicely with the simple acoustic guitar backing on this delicate yet engaging song.

A promising song from an artist new to Jamendo.
