What a blend of styles and textures.. wow! It's not necessarily something I'd recommend to a friend, but for some odd reason I found myself wanting to hear all of it, just to see what weird sonic solutions you'll come up with next. Just when I thought I'm safe, that it can't possibly get any stranger than this, you pull the rug from under my feet and oh boy, here we go again :) I'll give you props for doing what you want and not bowing down to norms, that's for sure. To anyone who just started listening, keep an open mind and enjoy the unconventional path found in this bag of tricks!
I like the composition, singer's voice and your playing very much, and could imagine myself listening to more of your material. However, I have to say the mix sounds rather muddy and unclear to my ear. It's hard to hear the lyrics, and tell instruments from each other. Brush up on production and you'll go to the stars!
I'm not really sure what to make of this album, to be honest. :) Can't really pin it to a specific genre, but I can hear that a lot of effort has been invested into making it. First two tracks are a nice mix of rock/hard rock/electro and work pretty well as compositions. The last track Stars, however, is what really resonates with me. It's like a soundtrack to a French shortfilm, or at least a very emotional scene from a movie. Very picturesque (can I say that for music?) and completely beautiful.
Production value is awesome in these songs, as can be expected from one of Jamendo's big names in electronic music. Plenty of interesting changes and evolution, to keep my interest piqued all the time. With crisp and clear sounds to boot, I can recommend this to any fan of electro.
Simple, yet elegant piano playing. Compositions are dreamy and mellow, something to relax to. Good album for winding down, "downshifting" :)
Enjoyed the production quality here. Sound design comes through as a winner, and songs seem pretty well balanced to me. Maybe not something you'd want to sit down and listen to intensely, but definitely works as background music to a range of situations.
The quirky sounds and effect-play in "lollop in the rain" particularly caught my ear. It's brave, experimental and it works. Also, it's strangely rhythmical, considering there's no clear percussive instruments.
Overall, a solid ambient work, well done!
Good job with this one, this should be in the next need for speed -game for sure. :) I can imagine screaming past the countryside in a super-expensive sports car. Goes to my "upbeat" playlist right now!
This is a rare gem. If you're reading this and not listening to the album, you need to drop everything else and start listening.
The opening track is what an opening track should be: strong and solid that makes the listener want more. Overall the songs are grade A quality, that go together to form a grade A album.
This one goes to the soundtrack of my life. <3
Listening to Good old friend I started thinking of Tower of Power. It's really that pro. :) Excellent singing talent all around. This type of music can easily sound like generic elevator music, but I think the sounds are high enough quality to prevent that association from happening. Sunshine was another stand-out track for me, so smooth and inspiring!
The first two songs were totally groovy and enjoyable bluesrock jams. After that something starts bugging me.. especially the drums sound like something out of a cheap general midi -synth. Get rid of the drum machine, try a drummer instead! ;)
The compositions are pretty good and interesting, and guitar work is awesome! In fact, it's way too awesome for the average soundset in the background. Sorry to say, but there were times I thought I was listening to some supermarket/elevator CD.
