mindthings - Life's Path

The opening track of this experimental, instrumental album is absolutely gorgeous; one of the most stunning I've heard. What's more, the album ends in the same way it begins - the last track is only a shade less captivating. In between, there are some good tracks, but sadly, too many weak ones prevent it from being a masterpiece. That said, it is in no way an album you should pass up. I highly recommend it.

I'm not sure how to pronounce this album, let alone how to classify it. It lies somewhere between the genres of "wonderful" and "fantastic", I suspect. It isn't rock; it's modern, progressive orchestral music. "Epic" and "intense" are understatements. It isn't like classical music at all, really. It's very dark, but very beautiful. This is one of the few albums I would rank as a masterpiece. Do yourself a favor and download it now.

Ruptures

An eclectic assortment of post and experimental rock. This is quality music, but music that is likely very different from anything you've heard before. Not in a bad way at all, it's just highly unique; a breath of fresh air. It's also fairly intense, but not trashy. I've spent many hours enjoying this album. It's something you have to experience for yourself to understand, but experience it you should.

Despite a weak intro track(don't let that turn you off), this is an exceptionally good post rock album. Its music is sometimes beautiful, sometimes epic, but almost always fantastic. The sound is reminiscent of Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky, but it isn't a clone of either. If you're a fan of post rock, you're in for a treat. If you aren't familiar with the genre, a word of warning: this isn't mainstream music. It's all instrumental, and requires active listening to enjoy; it probably isn't something you would listen to in the car.

Another great post rock album. This music is more laid back and accessible than the likes of DIY-Note or Hermelin. This isn't for the worse, however. Unenjoyable it certainly is not; quite the opposite, in fact, this is a very inspiring album. It's served as a motivator for me more times than once, and I feel indebted to Ruined Machines for releasing this epic wonder.

This E.P. by Of The I reaffirms my faith in creative commons music. The music is intelligent, unique, and everything great progressive rock should be. I sincerely hope this won't be the last composition I'll here by Of The I.

This is, without a doubt, one of the best albums I've ever listened to(and I've listened to quite a few). Truly one of the masterpieces of progressive rock. Every track is beautiful, and the album, as a whole, is quite intense. As a previous commenter said, you don't listen to this album so much as experience it. And what an experience it is - you owe it to yourself to download this, and when you do, listen to it all the way through, in a quiet place, with no distractions.

A whole-hearted 10/10 for Universica.

This album is excellent, to say the least. Without a doubt, this is some of the best music I've downloaded from Jamendo.

Personal data

I'm not a musician really, although I do play several instruments. I work on projects sometimes involving music, though. For instance, I organized a group that put together an animated movie as an honors project one semester at my college. It turned out pretty decently, considering I had no prior experience with animation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvQjdoSvh08 I'm a computer science major, with a strong interest in AI(no pun intended). I've worked on several projects involving expert systems, and hope to continue exploring this interest in the future.
