Ghost Transistor - Atmospheric

Ghost Transistor

Atmospheric

07/12/09

Has the atmospheric qualities of a small circuit. Throw in minimalism to the ambience and it seems to add up better for me. Again, nice enough and I thought I may as well grab a listen while I was in the area. Might be good to hear a bigger selection of tracks with hopefully a wider range, and let's hear those experiments stretching the imagination!-)

My initial frame of mind, taking the visuals in first, is of a time before surface-mounted components, when I could repair a computer with some ingenuity rather than just sticking a completely new module into the machine. That brings me to the second reference to the ghost in the machine, Koestler aside, there is some truth having spent many years in the business, of the mysterious and unexplainable in IT. This track does as much to account for such quark, strangeness and charm, as I could hope for. Overall, nice enough, although I feel the track could have stretched itself a bit more with good results.

Despite the span of time that these tracks where created within, they actually seem to flow together quite well. That suggests some level of constancy, though any disparity would show up less for me as a listener perhaps. Overall, I am obviously taken with this artist, and have enjoyed listening to this pretty positive electronica. As for the experimentation, it is not taken to any significant extreme, being more like just a hint of spice to the recipe. Bon appetit!

Busking on the digital highway, this one man band creates an atmosphere that is inescapably prone to inevitable division. Such is the nature of creative expression. The more information we transmit and receive, the more our attention span has to spread itself. In my book that is a set of potentially infinite variables all vying for our twitching focal point. Having said all that, I am quite taken by this musical offering. Made me think of Scott4's 'Works Project'. Which happens to be one of my most favourite albums. All for one and one for all!-) Nicely done.

Interestingly, perhaps even cleverly, the first track feels like the compressed flash of synaptical configuration, elongated into an extraordinary sound experience. So, it seems to be entitled suitably. Memory is a strange process sometimes, most often rational though in some cases seemingly unassociated with what would be expected to arise in the mind. That randomness can represent intuition, almost as if it is working behind the scene of overt consciousness. An interesting sound adventure. Partie 2 seems more fullsome and exteriorised. Fascinating composure.

An existentialist approach seems to work well with this style of creativity. Meaning is such a multi-faceted attribution. Having said that, there are some who find the world so cut and dried. What I think, is what I think. Furthermore, insomnia to its full extent, is somewhat like a migraine. You have to experience it to enable a certain ability to empathise. So, this seems to work well. Sleep deprivation has the capacity to be curiously horrific and simultaneously enlightening. Good opportunity for rising from the mixture of ashes.

Like a soundtrack for a film about a SF serial killer. Hardcore filler for cyberspace. Great stuff!

Certainly some stamina required, with or without previous wear and tear. Some very nice noise manipulations, and some well-balanced, quite atmospheric perspectives. Sounds like a slowly diffusing destruction. All seems to work out for the best when under severe stress, and there is often a sense of underlying tension, a dynamic coil to the electronic motivation. A realistic outlook on a possible future, perhaps.

Hard-edged technology in motion. Ebbs and flows with sine waves. Trigonometrical tides. Really depends on how much you care for angles of flow. Assuming of course, a fractal fringe.

Evil is as much a movement, a perpetuation of intent, as a perpetual, haunting presence that can overlook the self and others. There is something here depersonalised about it, that I presume is the obvious technologic aspect. Like the mechanisation of malign impulse. Here it does not overwhelm, but seems more pervasive and maybe a touch attenuated.
