Miii - Kichidon EP

OK, this is not would I would call dance music, much more head music and it's very IDMish. So if you're looking for a unique avant garde trip, Kichidon is it.

The sounds are hard and come at you in extremely complex layers, you must use your mind for this music. On just one listen it's given me about 4 trillion new musical ideas.

Check it out.

Dark

OK I have to admit I have a soft spot for music that has that tinkly winkly melodic lines coupled with heavy undertones.

So "Dark" fits the bill for me. It's a combo of Eric Satie and Megadeath that's perfect for a stroll along the Champs-Élysées with your 1987 JVC boombox on volume 11.

Arrangements are compelling and dramatic, and the tension builds appropriately ... "123" is a good example of that.

These first two tracks are absolutely outstanding.

The remainder of the album covers a fusion of styles that might work for some, but I found it didn't carry the dramatic punch of the beginning.

"Ep&HI" is your basic dubstep scary stomp stomp stomp stuff. No problem with that though those snares are so in your face!

"Output" has that psy trance feel, but departs towards a kind of IDM'ish staccato. "Ep", is sort of a techno/garage hybrid.

All in all an a very good job.

I agree with the above reviewer, but I will add that it works for me for listening too.

One thing I really like is the melodic constructions, blended with old skool sounds. C64 rock on!

Aavepyörä again shows that trackers and minimal cpu systems should not be dismissed as serious music making tools.

Excellent!

After 8 months out I think this excellent effort deserves a review. Don't you?

The vocal samples seem a little in your face and they come in forcefully, but give the whole thing a listen and they groove really well with the tracks.

The beats work well with the overall glitchiness. I especially like the toy piano sounds (I'm a big fan of toy pianos).

The melodic structures are interesting; repetitive, hypnotic for glitch even. Check out Stag in Spaaace.

Stag Fotunes is another cool track with this in your face sampling.

This is just so good.

This is totally refreshing stuff. I really like this style of music. It's like Astral Projection with a free form style. There's a particular kick break that is really cool on some of the tracks. It's amazing that you can do this with tracker software on Linux. So I must check this tracker stuff out.

Update 2010: I still love this so much. It's just amazing.
