This is an album of instrumental tracks that are all in different musical styles. These tracks are nothing special, but there is also nothing wrong with them. They make for decent background music.
I think we should view these more as raw material than as actual songs. The stated license allows for derivative works, and these tracks seem to be made to be built on. The name of the album (and the artist!) also seem to suggest that this was the intention.
In that sense, this album forms a valuable addition to the body of publically available Creative Commons materials, for which we should be grateful to the artist.
These guys could become the next Radiohead. What a discovery! Stands out for strong vocals, both female and male, for perfect instrumentals, and for unexpected melodies that challenge and pleasantly surprise the listener. Circa Vitae, I'll remember this name. Can't wait for their next work to come out. "The Tower" is my favourite track so far.
On this EP, the main tracks are glued together with soundscapes in a way that recalls Jean Michel Jarre, the French synth pioneer -- an unexpected atmosphere enhancer for a rock/indie album. Works best when using a music player that supports continuous/seamless play of multiple MP3 files.
The sound is rich and high quality, but all the songs seem to be singing the same monotonous melody, which gets boring to me rather quickly.
