Direct Raption - Direct Raption

I love this album. In all honesty, I'm not a huge fan of hip-hop or rap in general, but I was sifting through the site looking for some quality underground rap.

This is the best I've heard, by a wide margin. The intro grabbed me and I loved it since.

The main language is Swiss, right? I really wish I understood the language just so I could fully appreciate the album.

Everything about it is pretty great - Quality, production value, everything, is phenomenal. The only thing I marked off half a star for was the large amount of skits.. Was disappointing because I can't understand it. But regardless, this was very good.

I can't wait to hear more of your work.

I apologize for reviewing in english, I don't trust my spanish very much...

Listened through the whole thing twice, and didn't get bored with it at all. The mood and the groove somewhat fluctuate throughout but in a very good way.

The vocals were performed flawlessly and are perfectly equalized in the mix. On that same note, quality in general is great. Nothing's muffled, and everything can be heard without any instrument dominating, with the exception of the gorgeous solos. (Such as the guitar solo in "el espejo", and the awesome bass scale in "nada personal".)

The instrumentation is great - you're all very talented and you play with a perfectly unified groove.

By the way, the cover art is very cool.

Overall, I don't know of anything I don't like about it. And I'm not even a huge fan of the genre.

Came across your music on this week's blog with metal and reggae.

I do really like it. The vocals are good but nothing new. In general the instrumentation is good, but there isn't much about it that stands out, at least to me.

I especially liked Despair, Grind, and Mayday, those three stood out to me.

Quality isn't bad at all - The equalization, however, isn't perfect, making everything in general sound kind of muffled.

Overall, I would give it 4 out of 10. Not bad, but definitely potential for improvement. I look forward to hearing more!

I really like this demo. You've got 4 solid tracks that aren't simply "fillers", and those track lengths are kept in check nicely.

The vocals are pretty good, but the instrumentation is really what stands out. The quality is actually very good, but there's always room for improvement.

The only thing that stopped me from giving you a solid 10 were the breakdowns near the end of each track. They were performed well, but in my opinion they were somewhat drawn out.

Great first demo, I look forward to hearing more.

The most absolutely strange thing I've ever listened to...

But I can't stop playing it. One reviewer stated it perfectly, in that some find it profoundly artistic, and others just awful. I just love it - despite a nonexistant time signature, it's strangely a great album.

I cant say why, but damn it's cool...

This must be the most unique album I've heard so far. I absolutely love the instrumentation.

The vocals are VERY unique, but they're just great. Your genre "crossover weirdocore" is the best way to describe it!!

Keep it up, I can't wait to hear more.

It felt like I was listening to the soundtrack of a DOOM game ripoff coupled with awful vocals in front...

Just the simple fact that you put together a complicated song with a "metal" structure by MIDIs alone leads me to believe that you would have potential if you just stuck with electronic music. You really, really can't make metal music with those means.

I gave it one star because it's still playing right now, and it's mildly entertaining. But still bad...

This is the FIRST AND ONLY album on this site thus far I would rate this high.

I haven't heard ANY metal on this site as good as this so far, and trust me, I've been looking.

You're fuckin heavy, you're groovy, everything flows great. The vocals kick major ass.

KEEP FUCKING ROCKING!!!

Personal data

Hey hey everyone. Name's Jakob, and I'm 17 years old. I'm very open with music, but some personal favorites are anything similar to post hardcore, experimental, punk, anything with lots of energy. But all music that is truly emotive and created for honest expression I can at least appreciate. I'm becoming somewhat of a heavy reviewer on this site - I'll be as honest as I can when reviewing your work, and I'll attempt to keep all of my criticisms as constructive... I started a band recently that is almost ready to record, and I hope to build a page for us on this site and upload our songs! I absolutely love this site, and I hope to be in contact with many artists and others in this community.
