When we're talking about this band, "the usual" is their usual excellence! Great feel, good recording, great vocals and instrumentals. If they've ever put out a bad album, I must not have heard it. When you're in the mood for this flavour of music, they *ARE* the stuff!
An extremely talented band. An amazing album. The sounds is tight and novel rock, the vocals and instrumentals splendid, the lyrics superb.
Even after being up all night, this really impressed me. "Lucy Ferre", "Addicted to You" and "A Contre Sens" were tracks I particularly liked.
Bravo.
Great voice, great playing, and excellent songwriting. There are a few very minor technical glitches here and there, perhaps.. but they in no way can devalue an album this good. It has something rarer and more delightful than perfection going for it. There is the touch of genius, if you listen for it. Especially considering the artist wrote these songs between when she was 14 and 18? Very impressive.
Excellent development of the ideas, nice bits of experimentation and inclusion of creative touches..
10, definitely.
This is definitely a beautiful song and superbly done. I'll just say that it's a pity we can't give an 11 on the ratings here.
Bravo, Jana Fisher. An superb single that manages to show continuation of the excellence started with your album, "A History of Sleepwalking".
Great songs, very well done. Good dance stuff, but also great for just listening. Top notch.
Ok, this is a very short "album". But this is very much your rompin' stompin' splendidly well done rock-n-roll with good songs that are well recorded. Great arrangements and playing, good lyrics and singing, thick lush sound textures.. Great stuff.
Ah, Fenrir's much anticipated second album. And as I'd hoped, the sound quality is *much* improved!
Hauntingly beautiful vocals with evocative lyrics, excellent interplay of the instrumental lines, and overall a stellar performance. Very good composition, and some very distinctive melodic lines and textures.
Some of the ideas developed at certain moments of many of the songs are novel and brilliant. I'm writing this review on only my second listen through the album and already I'm finding I have some favourite moments. Very impressive.
Fenrir is obviously a band with a great love for their music, who delight in playing and singing together, and this comes across even more strongly on this album. I give it a 10.
Spacey textures and melodics dance and evolve before a dark backdrop. Very elegant electronica.
That's really the only word I can think of for this album. Superb.
