What do I notice as I enjoy "Music in my mind" today? Beautiful synth work (loving the pads especially), well crafted beats and some nice harmonies. "Running Boy" is a strong favourite; it has a pulsing mood that I can coast on. "Lock & Hold" too, because I'm partial to some drum & bass. :)
For my tastes I think that rhythm and harmony are most important, and that's why this is a great album for me.
Great stuff Mr Oziro!
I have enjoyed this piece of music for a few years now... It is beyond.
One of my favourite pieces of music of all time to be sure.
A couple of people have already said - there's a bit range of styles here. I admit I love some songs and other I chose not to download at all. Let me tell you, if you love jazzy, deep, strange beats, you will love half of this album! I used "strange" endearingly here. Tracks like SG-nifico, Toffu, Sand-Witch, Walkin On A Black HOle, Sound Ostateczny, Quadrum, Sadnessinblue, are bang on. I appreciate the composers intention's for the rest of the tracks, however unique chilled beats are what I came here to see.
After downloading do-up's little demo a few months back I had to get on this one too. I shared the last release with my girlfriend which is strange because we have different musical tastes. Perhaps something in the music speaks to a variety of listeners.
This album doesn't disappoint at all. The live vibe keeps it energetic and the performance is tight. Vocals are great as ever (for those listeners who like lyrics and singing)! I take my lounge music with plenty of jazz and with do-up I know I'll get just that.
The sound quality is authentic - reminds me of good ol' 90s acid jazz. Another reviewer said the vocals weren't loud enough in the mix. The vocals sit fine for me!!
You know what we all want though... a full length album! ;)
How fantastic it is to come across microtonal music! For those who haven't heard any, you'll either be turned off by the dissonances or amazed by the new colours and harmonies that can be produced with this kind of tuning.
For me, the sparkling gem of Five Hemispheres is track 2, "Two". I've been listening to this one in particular for the past few days and it's rewarding each time I come back to it. A delicate, gamelan-ish bell can be enjoyed throughout most of the piece. Polyrhythms and changes of tempo abound.
R. Winchester, I've been looking for something new to get into and I think I've found it!
Do you find that any people in your area appreciate your style of music?
