Well done gentlemen! Normally pop is not what I listen to, but I made an exception. How glad I am for doing so! The tunes were pleasant enough, yet I only have one complaint. The first 8 songs seemed as if the vocals were being hidden, yet the last track they came forth. Minor gripe as I am unfamiliar with the group.
I'd really like to hear more if there are any hidden gems not released yet to do a comparison of them. Keep `em coming guys!!!
Wow, The Art of Noise meets Pink Floyd, in some instances. Good selection of sounds and weaving of melodies. One important basic of music, though, is point and counter point. One part needs to go high while the other goes low. This seemed to have a sameness thoughout, with just a change of instrumental tones. I will be interested in seeing what new contributions you will make. (Love the carved Easter Island head theme)
My first listen to "Deus." Must say I was surprised by some of the tracks. Titles usually bring a vision to mind of what the artist had in their mind. "Game Over" really sounded like a finalization to any game from years back. What really tripped my trigger is the waking of my subwoofer in "Tears Of Sun!" While an easy listening melody, the subharmonic sweep came at just the right spot. Very good work, Deus. Like to be surprised, please do so again...
While I won't go as far as soulseekers & forajump, I must agree that this is dated. Your accomplishments with the learning the C64 & then programming the various software for yourself is commendable! Moving up to a PC was a wise chice as well. Now, having done all that, please, find time to reaquaint your ears to newer sounds from the clubs and such. Don't give up!
Vaguely reminiscent of Deep Forest (sans worldly voices) and Enigma (not as posh of a production, but what the heck.) It expresses itself with change-ups in tonal quality. Far too many albums have the same "sound" and become boring. This collection of tunes allowed me to enjoy what I was doing and gave pause when the next started. "Mantra" could become more of a snoozer if it would have went on much longer, though. Interesting choice of instruments, too. A bit of a drum-machine sound on some, with an addition of electric piano, but then add a funky bassline. Well done counter point. Am awaiting the next release.
While searching for new music I come across this little gem. The band has a lot of energy, and I love the diversity they have in styles. Some songs remind me of early Deep Purple, yet they turn around on another song and give it a Red Hot Chili Peppers feel. An excellent choice of mixing songs. Some bands don't stray too far from their sound, but 7ieben pops that bubble. Good work gentlemen. May we see a bit more English sneak in (One Woman Show)? I do await to hear your next offering!
