I agree with Barbara - the album art is great. And it goes with the overall sound of the album. Really nice instrumentation. Remember was my favorite track.
I'm about halfway through, but I've loved what I heard so far. Blood has been my favorite track so far. The piano and the programmed drums work really well for this project.
Great sound and production value! The dub/reggae/hip hop mix is a great sound. The vocals really make the music great.
I almost don't even need to listen to CJ Rogers albums to properly review them anymore. I've learned that it's safe to expect a quality work, equal parts chill and compelling. Hot Spot is no exception. I especially appreciate the dance and trance influences in this one. A nice change up from the older stuff. Great music to read to.
I love the sound on the tracks here. Really good industrial house rock feel going on. Maybe even a little goth in there? Like if Depeche Mode and The Cure got together and made music for clubs. I dunno.
The guitar and the synth sequences work together really well. My only complaint is that the songs don't sound completely distinct from each other.
Still, a really good album. Solid work.
The instrumentation is very tasteful and just washes over me in the best way possible. I particularly like the voice - very unique and memorable, and it works well with the music. The female backing vocals complement very well give the right amount of contrast to really complete the songs they appear on. Right now, Till Dawn is probably my favorite track.
I haven't really sat down and listened to any CJ Rogers stuff since I first joined Jamendo, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. It must have just slipped my mind, as I don't listen to much instrumental music.
Even though I may not be a connoisseur of instrumental music, I think I can recognize quality stuff when I hear it. And this is quality stuff. At the very least, it's pleasant and relaxing. I'm feeling stress melt away, and I didn't even know I was stressed.
This whole album is getting downloaded and added to my ambient playlist.
I've never been much of a hip hop listener, but Tab's stuff has always been very entrancing and enjoyable to me. There's an atmospheric, spacey vibe to this stuff that I haven't found in my (admittedly cursory) listening to other rap and hip hop acts.
Well done, and keep the good stuff coming.
I've listened to this album all the way through 3 times in the last 5 hours. Every time it ends, I'm disappointed because I want more. If that's not a mark of a great album, I don't know what is.
My current favorite on the album is "Falling in Love." Autotune is all the rage these days, but the song doesn't sound like everything else out there. I'm a sucker for autotune, anyway.
A great album. My only complaint is that it was too short. And now I'm off to listen to more Tab albums...
