Really nice EP, I'm hoping they release more music to Jamendo.
...what more needs to be said? Garage punk which reminds me a lot of the late 70's / early 80's punk sound out of Southern California with some 70's rock influence. Good music, download it.
Hear for yourself.
The music is pretty well-written, the grooves are catchy and have a fair modicum of soul. But the musicianship... let's just say it needs work. A lot of work. I'm a firm believer that the timing in funk/groove needs to be flawless in order to accurately capture the spirit of the genre. Unfortunately, the timing here is _far_ from flawless. Still, the music itself isn't bad if you can get past the musicianship. Maybe the artist(s) would be willing to practice their chops and re-release the material. In that case, I'd be giving it a much more favorable review, and it'd likely have a top-shelf position among my music collection.
The album has the merit of some pretty flavorful interludes. I'd categorize it as Latin jazz with an almost jam-like quality at times. The recording/mastering/engineering portion of this album is probably the single largest drawback, but it's not enough to detract from the music very severely. All in all, if you like smooth, melodic jazz with a Latin twist, you'll like it enough to warrant the download.
Incidentally, Manu Cornet is an all-around talented individual:
