Mend - In Spite Of It All

Mend

In Spite Of It All

04/12/08

This is quite a fine dark and downtempo release, that will obviously appeal to the fans of synthpop/futurepop music - great production quality with a unique atmosphere!

It's hard to select a favourite track, but "jaded" and "change" seem to be the candidates :) Keep it up, Mend!

This is just soooo touching and beautiful work! A true fusion of so many different genres, and so very well performed!

Well, except maybe for the "Aeons" track, which seemed a little repetitive and unbalanced to me, but anyway - it's quite a chaotic and disturbing song, so it's probably intended to sound that way...

Other than that, this is a solid and well performed record. I've heard Spinefish before on Colours of Black V2 (a Russian dark-scene compilation CD) and it's very nice to see the band's style evolve in its own way :)

Thanks and kudos to you, guys, for sharing this (indeed) amazing release with the world! Cheers,

Hey, that's quite a nice gothic/newwave EP from... Belarus! It surely has some obvious influences from 80s and 90s, but hey! What else should you expect from a postpunk/newwave project? Oh, and it's so nice to finally see such a "darkish" release with Russian lyrics on Jamendo! ;)

Recommended release for all the fans of oldschool "gothic" music out there...

A very relaxing and lovely piece of work. Tis' just sooooo minimalistic and beautiful. Not 100% technically perfect, yet a very atmospheric work. Very atmospheric :)

I like this release much more than the previous 2 (that were quite downtempo and well... rather monotonous). On the other hand, this is a much stronger release with slightly (but only a little) more agressive feel... Somehow reminds me of The Dandy Warhols :)

Have to say that all your albums have extremely low overall volume. ReplayGain partially solves this problem, but you could benefit from better mastering for sure :)

Nice and "hitting the mark" songs, and the album as a whole, but after some listening it tends to get somehow boring... But anyway, I think Laixa could have a success in the mainstream, esp. if well produced.

The visual design could be a little more polished as well, hence a low mark for this one :)

I'm very excited with some recent schwarze releases on Jamendo. This one is no exception: dark, minimalistic, atmospheric tunes, magical voices and the overall "gothic" mood make this release an immediate must-have for any dark folk fan! Highly recommended.

Pretty minimal glitchy sound, inspired by the city, I guess. From the overall listening experience, 6+ points. The cover is a good match for the music inside :)
