If you like your flamenco mixed with big progessive guitar rock, you've come to the right place! Strong female vocals, strong guitar solos - rock and traditional - strong flamenco tunes, excellent professional production.
Wow, what a difference this is from Orxata's first eponymous attempt. Many of the songs are "the same" as from their first demo, but much improved: better samples, smoother beats, funkier more danceable grooves. Fun electro-ska-dub-n-bass-funk. The first track is merely an ambient intro, not the sound of the rest of the album. Recommended!
Some drum and bass, some dub, some trip-hop, some goofing around, sometimes all in the same track. A fair bit of ambient samples and a some folklorico touches. Sounds like these folks are having fun and trying out new sounds on this demo.
Kolokon reminds me of Mano Negra: heavy on the brass, drums and guitar, and I do love the accordion and fiddles.
Some songs are hard rockin', others are funky rumba reggae. A nice bit of Eastern European neoBalkan sounds in there too.
The production quality is very clean and well balanced, making this a fun listen for those louder, energetic, folk-punk moments.
Los Impagaos are one of my favortie artists on Jamendo. Great Rumba/Flamenco/Punk/Mestizo. Reminds me of La Pegatina. Manu Chao fans should take a look at this one, although it's less worldbeat and more ska punk with Spanish guitar.
