laura wrote, composed, played, sung, recorded, and mixed everything you hear on this album herself. that's the first thing you need to understand, drums, guitar, bass, flute, voice - she did everything. Yeah, she's really that talented.
as for who it sounds like? nobody that I can think of. She took pieces of a dozen different styles and came out with something totally new. I love this album. it's not perfect, nothing is, but it's honest and real and i'm glad to see it finally up on jamendo where the world can hear it.
great songs by a great man. This whole album was recorded in a single sitting with one mic and no mixing. it's a genuine snapshot of everything folk music should be - unpretentious, heartfelt, and genuine.
