I do not really get that. More than 15.000 times played within the first month, and there is nothing more than endless arpeggios and corny and unimaginative chords in this CD, as well as in any other CD by Costlow. How can someone playing so uninterestingly be so noted, while other pianists on this platform with greater creativity, such as Paolo Pavan or Fabrizio Paterlini, are comparatively ignored? What makes Costlow so special? I guess, more than 1800 downloads within the first month tell me that he must be good. Why else would so many people listen to it? So I download the CD, I see the light, claiming there is nothing better on earth, and I start to compare Costlow's music to legends like Jarrett or Chizhik to underline his exceptional talent. Well, the names of these great pianists have no business here. A simple listening into Jarrett's encore in 'La Scala' makes this clear. Costlow is lightyears away from that. If you long for breathtaking piano music - listen to Jarrett! If you want good music here on Jamendo, listen to the guys mentioned above. But you will not find it in Costlow's CDs.
an exceptionel cd on this platform, great sound quality, good solis, an awesome pianist, surely a cd worth listening to. cheers, frithjof
where is the substance?? where is the voice?? except every now and then the pieces are a whole load of concept-less chain of tones. and yes, we have heard 6-7-1 connections for ages..... what about something new this time?
nice to play it in the back during an interesting conversation, but too eventless to turn your whole concentration to it. except an esoteric atmosphere, there is nothing much, regrettably.
great technique, incredibly conrolled play with harly any stumbling flaws. although some repetetive arpeggios, he can make the paraphrase go away by giving every passage a different connotation, which i appreciate a lot - which is quite the opposite from costlow e.g., who sounds like a maschine. To be honest, I usually dont like the sticking to one key only in piano impros, but Mr. Paterlini has a talent to play whatever the melody might be in a breathtaking way, thus - best note. surely it will be one of my favourites in the next time. greetings from a piano collegue, cheers, frithjof
good playing, sometimes a bit stumbling during the fast passages, but nevertheless a good technique. could be more interesting by changing the key or putting an unexpected chord every now and then, which makes the good legerdemain regrettably somewhat transparent.
nice album. amazing voice. convincing sound, very professional - which is rare. sometimes kind of electronical, which one has to get used to.... but, nevertheless, questionless worth listening.
a very powerful music, mighty chords, though so often so light and playful, .... and i like the zero-chords every now and then - makes me shaky every time. somehow, your music makes me see the good stuff in the words, dont know why. i got this feeling of "everything will be ok" - however you do that - thanks for it. greetings from a piano-collegue, frithjof
I must say that I love the chords especially, the disharmonies, the low thunders from the depths of the piano, and in between, the slight light melodies on the top. One can hear Chopin in most of your tunes, in the LH arpeggios. It's an awesome, questionless above average recording,... what what do I say - according to the counted plays, many people already realized :-) . Greetings from a musical collegue, love, Frithjof
great solist and an awesome orchestra. the composition, however, is not that breathtaking and lacks ideas and the red line here and there. though it has nice themes. reminds a bit of film music. nevertheless, its a great piece of art. i'd really like to know the composer, a little bit more of information would have been nice.
